new, FREE App to manage your Vinyl Collection!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Firstly, hope this is OK to post. As a collector myself, admittedly not of vinyl particularly, i'd like to introduce a new app my company (Tactile Solutions) have just released into the App Store!

At the moment, it is completely free with no In-App-Purchases or Ad's. Hence me drawing your attention to it now! All we ask if you could possibly leave a review on the app store, with any additional features you'd like to see! We're already working on integrating with social media and ebay etc - if there's a a way we can integrate directly into this forum i'd be happy to work on that too! (Admin's feel free to get in touch).

With 'My Collections Organiser' you can now simply scan a barcode of an item you have bought and store them into any category you want, all on your iOS device! The app will automatically identify your biggest and best categories and make it easy, quick and fun to browse through them!

In one app, you can keep a record of all your collections in an easy, manageable and convenient way.

The Main Features:

* Scans barcodes and retrieves the name of the items along with a photo (if available).

* Manual name entry if your item is not found on the database via barcode.

* Totally Unique, user definable categories. Items without barcodes? Not a problem! Add absolutely anything with our manual add function.

* Multi / Batch Scan - Got loads to scan? Scan them all at one time, put your feet up and let 'My Collections Organiser' do the work for you, looking up multiple item information and automatically adding them to your selected category.

* Store items into any category you wish and select a stored item to bring up a photo, the full item name and when the item was added to the category. You can create as many as you like, so go crazy!

* Lists & User Defined Information. Fed up of being restricted on what information you can store about your items? Now you can create your own fields, storing whatever information you want to.

* Instant Item Checker - In a shop? Can't remember if you've got that film or not? Don't take the risk! Scan the item and 'My Collections Organiser' will instantly tell you if that barcode is stored somewhere in your collection. Simple!

* iCloud sync, allowing you to keep track of your collections across all your iCloud-enabled devices.

* E-mail a CSV export of your collections to view on your computer or anywhere else that supports the CSV file format.

* Don't like E-mail? Directly access a CSV export of your collections simply by entering an address into the web browser!

Maybe it's just my phone, but if I hit the link all it does is open up a new browser window.

Just searched for it in the App Store and am downloading it now. I'll see how practical it could be for me.

Cheers. That's irritating. Will take a look in the link.

Any feedback etc or features that would be useful to you, feel free to leave them in a review, they're checked every 24 hours and we'll let you know if your idea will be implemented in the next update! :)

Just downloaded and scanned in a record. I think the biggest problem apps like this have is the lack of pressing info. It would be great to scan a record and then have the pressing info automatically populated instead of having to manually enter it all. Albums that have the same barcode with different variants could be selected from a drop down menu after scanning.

My app seems to lack a vinyl category even after scanning a barcode and having that barcode come up as a "vinyl".

Hi there. The app allows complete control over your categories. If you select 'my collection' from the bottom bar menu, then in the top right hit 'create' you can create a Vinyl category.

Hi there. Pressing info is certainly something i'll look into. What it requires is a database I can link to. If such one exists, i'll contact the owner and see what the possibilities are.

Try Discogs.com first (it's super-detailed); if that doesn't work out, try deadformat.net (not as comprehensive).

Brilliant. Thanks. Will take a look!

Can I import my collection from a csv/Google docs file?

If not, I'd highly recommend adding that feature. Will drastically improve the adoption rate

Again, great suggestion. We'll go with "great minds think alike" because that's actually on our list of features to be included when we update the app to version 2.0! :)

You might even be able to pull pressing info from Discogs API. I can't think of another data source that would have that kind of information.

Not sure how well it would work with the barcode reader as a lot of my variants seem to use the same SKU. You might need a manual workflow like others suggested.
