GermyHewmatt
I saw Man Man open for Modest Mouse back in 2007. Had heard of them but wasn't real familiar with them. I had the pleasure of seeing them at Pitchfork Festival not long after. Now they're one of my favorite bands.

mrewest
Saw Murder By Death at a festival in '04 & never heard of them before that. Was blown away & has been a favorite band since. Also, If These Trees Could Talk opening for Russian Circles was a game changer after not knowing them previously. That led to me seeing The End of the Ocean open for ITTCT & they are one of my favorite live acts. Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band opening for Flogging Molly was also amazing. themeconspiracy
Back in high school, I was going to see the Eels play. The opening band was called Mime. I had never heard of them, so I went to Google them and found a band called Mime that seemed pretty rad...good chill tunes, so I got even more excited for the show. So yeah, I was pretty surprised when I was at the show and an actual mime walked out on the stage and just stood there posing for 20 minutes before the Eels played... chamb117
i was late to the party on a lot of bands i grew to love at one point or another: anterrabae and folly supported odd project in 2004 every time i die supported chiodos in 2006 (which is hilarious in hindsight) alexisonfire supported saosin in 2007 (also hilarious) title fight opened for four year strong in 2010 the story so far opened for set your goals in 2010
radiatorhums
I saw Big Ups open for METZ tonight and really enjoyed them. I picked up a cassette. I don't usually try to avoid openers unless I just flatout dislike them, but I'm rarely in a rush to get to a show early to check out a band I haven't heard either (especially on week nights).
