thebilljim
Ugh...one day. My local shop has one of these sitting on their shelf, and when I went in to pick up my Debut I got a chance to see & hear it in action. It's a lovely turntable for sure, but not in the cards for me right now.

vinyl addict
I'd go with the VPI traveler for the $1k
bgdesign
The $950 Clearaudio Virtuoso Ebony Wood cartridge makes this a deal.
slinch
Well to be fair it's the old model cart which was "only" $750, so you basically get an upgraded Clearaudio Emotion table worth roughly $1.5k* for $250. The only reason people even mention the VPI is because there's a "made in USA" writing on it *basing that estimate on the fact that the standard Emotion was $1k and the Emotion SE, a just barely improved model over the marantz is $2.5k
ajxd
I'd go with the VPI traveler for the $1k Have fun with that 2M Red.
vinyl addict
Have fun with that 2M Red. the cartridge is not permanently fixed to the tonearm.
kidamnesiac
Well to be fair it's the old model cart which was "only" $750 Are you sure? Description says Virtuoso Ebony Wood, which I'm pretty sure is the V2 cart. the cartridge is not permanently fixed to the tonearm. For tables that both cost $1,000, getting a $950 cart is a way better deal than getting a $100 cart.
slinch
Are you sure? Description says Virtuoso Ebony Wood, which I'm pretty sure is the V2 cart. Yeah, the V2 was only released two or three years ago, the TT15 has been selling with that cart for close to a decade. Though I think it might actually only be available in that package as the standalone cart has a different kind of wood housing (or aluminum for those who prefer it). But it isn't the V2 cart, though I can't imagine there being much of a difference.
slinch
Heh, I just searched a bit and this pretty much sums it up regarding value for money: To put it into perspective, a similarly built table directly from Clearaudio would cost about $1200 for the table and arm, $875 for the Virtuoso cartridge, $200 for upgraded feet, and you get a thicker platter to boot with a 3 year guarantee! In case your head hurts, the math adds up to $2275 vs. $1600—quite the bargain. So at $1k it's really no contest. And this same review also confirms about the cart being available only in this package: If the supplied Clearaudio Virtuoso Ebony cartridge (exclusive to this table) is used, then setup is very easy. ajxd
the cartridge is not permanently fixed to the tonearm. The mobile page really needs the eye roll emoji.
ajxd
So at $1k it's really no contest. This needs to be the ultimate take home message. It's an incredible table for an insane price. Nothing compares in the price range.
Tardcore
I've had mine for a year and have zero impulse to upgrade. If you had 3kish burning a hole in your pocket, you can get something better, but I don't think you can touch it for 1k.
allenh
So at $1k it's really no contest. From what I've seen of the US market place I'd have to agree it really is a bargain, at that price in effect you are paying a good price for a very good arm and cartridge and getting a very good turntable thrown in for free. circuit bored records
I had this table for a few weeks and it really is impressive. For me it would actually cost $1300 because a dustcover would be a mandatory purchase
Tardcore
I bought this one for $185. But yeah, that's a valid point. http://echohifi.com/details/6707/Echo-Audio_Dust-Cover

allenh
Sorry, you can only purchase one if you stop calling it a record player. They've been called record players since at least 1957, turntable is a modern term for DJ's and older hipsters and therefore wrong on many levels
ajxd
I'll call up Clearaudio and let them know they're hipsters and DJs.
