There Will Be Hell Toupée! (The Donald Trump Thread)

Recommended Posts

Also, I'm curious - is immigration the only or at least the primary policy point that drove you to Trump or do you support the trickle down economics, anti-science, drill baby drill stuff as well?  One of you mentioned that you were sick of the 1% ruling everything, are you disappointed in his cabinet picks and tax cut for the rich plan?

Vinyl Addict lives in MA.  He's angry about illegal immigrants because he wants to be, not because he has ever been affected by them in real life.

It's a nice excuse, but not one that the "majority" of people share.

WTF does MA have to do with anything?

How would you know the illegal immigrant situation in my area?

Do I have to live in AZ to be affected?

The majority of people DO share the same opinion.

I grew up in MA, and since you mentioned that your job isn't likely to be affected by immigration, you have enough disposable income to be addicted to vinyl and enough free time to cruise message boards - I made some assumptions.  Was I wrong?

What does MY hard earned free time have to do with illegal immigrants in MA or anywhere else in this country?

I fail to see your point about me living in MA.

You grew up in MA? Good for you! Was it in my neighborhood/city? No? Then WTF are you talking about?

Sorry kids, Bernie didn't win. You'll have to pay for your schooling yourselves. I know you all didn't get what you wanted, but such is life. You think I wanted that idiot Obama in office?

Just caught up with this thread

- Yeah 99% sure Fungi is WAXXX

- I love it when bake shows up and half the people don't even realize it

- I'd be afraid to find out what would happen if we lost most of/all of our illegal immigrants. They're pretty important to the economy, regardless of where you stand on the moral issue.

I was just pointing out that things seem pretty good for you.

You didn't answer my question, so I'll assume that the answer is "no, I'm just angry."

If your major sticking point is immigration, then Obama should be viewed as a pretty good president.  He didn't do anything as needlessly symbolic as building a wall, but he sure did kick out a lot of people.

Go and watch the movie 'A Day Without a Mexican'. It'll give you a glimpse of what that may be like. It came out in 2004 and takes place in California, and although mostly with a comedic tone, it does have a social commentary that reverberates even more so now esp. with what you're wondering there, Dom.

"First they came for..." and all of that.

Came to post that exact thing:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

And empathy? LOL

Yeah, empathy triumphs over all. That will solve everything. Wake up and look around, this country is falling to shit.

I can assure you, your country is not falling to shit because people are too empathetic.

People have no idea.  Even if it were true that these people were only a burden to society (they are not), you shift that much weight around in a system things will become unbalanced.

My post may be getting missed since it was on the last page...but these "illegal immigrants" are paying 11 billion in taxes each year!  Do we want that much money removed from the system?  I mean, maybe kick the guy out who isn't paying taxes (TRUMP).

Yeah, we all skipped the last page and totally missed your post.

So we are paying for the wall up front and then again at the grocery store? This is going to drain the taxpayer more than their illegal presence. Raising sales tax is really the only way to get them to pay taxes, it's one of the only taxes that both legal and illegal citizens pay.

I'm also pretty pissed he is trying to silence branches of government (that work for us mind you) from reporting facts. The public interest is obviously not being considered, it's the 1% big shocker. But keep everyone distracted with left vs right arguments so we stay divided and pissed while we continue to be run by corporations.

Falling to shit because of people like you.

Going full apeshit on people they way you do makes it difficult to consider your views.  Maybe try being a little less hostile? If you want that electoral map to turn blue again perhaps less arrogance and self righteousness would be a start.

No, it's the liberal pussies who let the country fall to shit.

The 1% gets their way and everyone else cowers in fear and afraid to speak up and say something.

Well guess what, someone is saying something and enough agreed with him to elect him. I'm excited to see what gets done. I may be in the minority on this site, but not in the country. People are sick of the bullshit.

It's saying something that this stands out from the rest of your posts as an extra dumb statement.

Trump's cabinet has:

  • A net worth of $13 billion
  • 4 Goldman Sachs alumni
  • A Secretary of Labor with a documented history of hostility towards laborers
  • A Secretary of Education with direct ties to Blackwater and Amway ( LOL) whose stated goal is to dismantle public education
  • A Secretary of State who was CEO of Exxon-Mobil less than a month ago, with direct personal ties to Putin
  • Linda McMahon, the top donor to the Trump Foundation (a clear-cut example of pay-for-play, one of the many things Trump attempted to pin on Clinton)
  • Donald Trump, who has still yet to make any non-insulting attempts to appear as if he won't be enacting policy that directly benefits his business holdings, and still won't release his tax returns.

It honestly fucks me up that anyone could still be on the anti-establishment tip with Trump. Whoever's jingling their keys in front of him at any given moment (likely some combo of Bannon/Pence/Priebus) is anti-political establishment, sure, but they are all about preserving that power structure, baby. And we already know what's going to get done: a systematic gutting of programs and services that benefit the public, a slashing of tax rates for the wealthiest, and a funneling of public money into favored businesses. Just stick to the illegal immigration stuff, man, you seem like you're on a real roll there.

Also, be clear, by what great folly have liberal pussies contributed to the apparent downfall of this country? Letting Lena Dunham have a TV show?

Research what an "individual taxpayer identification number" is.

from my recollection of the teachings i received during primary school courses in volgograd on american politics and socioeconomic theory, some undocumented migrants and nonresident aliens in the USA do legally acquire an individual taxpayer identification number and pay taxes. in some instances they "borrow" someone else's social security number or forge their own social security card in order to complete a Form I-9 to be eligible for lawful employment. however, it's also possible that undocumented migrants, if earnings are under a certain threshold, receive more from a tax refund, through tax credits and/or fraudulent reporting, than they initially paid into the system. no one really knows for sure, because the american government is being really shady in their transparency with their data that applies to these situations. it's beneficial for the government to offer little transparency in this matter because certain taxes, like FICA (social security + medicare), are non-refundable and are very much needed to support the baby boomers who were told they could count on the money they paid into the system being there for them when they retired from the workforce at age 62. in addition, if earnings are below a certain threshold for undocumented migrants, them and their families (if living with them in the USA) are eligible to receive health plans on the exchange largely subsidized by the government and healthier, younger americans who are now paying higher premiums. so even if @stl_ben is correct that the government receives $11 billion from undocumented migrants and nonresident aliens each year, it's very difficult to pinpoint if that number is what they should be collecting, how that money is then specifically distributed, and then determine if the government is operating at a net loss or a net gain with all things considered.

I can't tell if you are trying to agree or disagree with me or why you quoted me, but regardless the government has policies in place that allow and encourage illegal immigrants to pay taxes.

sorry. i understand my english grammar and discussion can be improvement.

i agree with you that there are other ways that the american government gets undocumented migrants and nonresident aliens to pay taxes, other than sales tax.

however, it's very likely that the government is not receiving much in federal income tax from undocumented migrants once tax returns are filed, tax credits are claimed, and tax refunds are issued.

sales tax (as much as 9.45% in some states) and FICA taxes (7.65% of reported wages) are likely the leading methods the american government is using to collect money from undocumented migrants.
