Oh word? Well damn, one of the two people who liked this reply legally can't vote/buy cigarettes/porn/spray paint/keyboard cleaner/cough syrup/m-rated video games/etc. Curious to hear what Jr.'s feelings regarding war subsidation are, given he'll be drafted long before you or I would be.

This is petty as fuck, bruh

Yup....

Ivanka Trump just accepted a $100MM donation to her Women's Fund from Saudia Arabian interests. Female journalists were ushered out of the hall when Ms. Trump gave her speech.

Mrs. Clinton also took great amounts of flack from the Trump Campaign for accepting donations from Saudi Arabian Nationals.

Ms. Trump's husband, Jared Kushner, also negotiated a lower price from American arms manufacturers for the Saudis.

Yes.

This whole situation is fucked up.

Do you really need us to tell you that we think, as bleeding heart liberal peaceniks that blast Jimi Hendrix and Phil Ochs, this is fucked up?

Nah dude, you guys just don't have strong feelings about mass murder because no-no words are a bigger deal to you. To the left it's....

Unrealistic:

Men under the age of 26 who literally signed a Selective Service contract are forced to fight in wars with 3 other countries because nobody is voluntarily signing up to join Trump's army.

Realistic:

There's a Nazi uprising in America because +46% of the citizens here are white supremacists or whatever.

Very petty though, not worth discussing in the least.

Sorry I didn't come in here to explicitly condemn mass murder?

I'd be against this shit if Hilary were in charge as well...because it would have happened...just without Trump's family profiting.

I just don't feel the need to come in here to say "This is bad" just to have Waxx post a gif of Trump looking smug or some shit.

Also, someone using "no no words" is something that anyone can address...so that's why you see more of it. The fuck am I gonna do about a $100billion arms deal?

You had no problem being outraged by way less significant problems, and even though you're going to insist this thread is garbage you still keep coming back. It seems like you're more upset by my comment(s) then what I was commenting about.

Just use he ignore function, it works wonders for me!

Lol, yet you go out of your way to voluntarily lurk it (notice I didn't mention you or tag you).

You do you do fella, at least let us know how boot camp is treating you when the time comes.

I just click all the threads that have stars by them and read through out of habit (I don't think I've posted in the thread since before or around the election but I could be wrong). I'm not in school anymore so with all this free time I quickly run out of other starred topics to read through. It's a real messy display of a thread, but just like all those stupid first-post-users topics on the main board, that kinda makes it fun to read through in a sense, doesn't it?

Also, I'm kinda confused in regards to the draft/boot camp statements; do you think I'm pro-war or something? Are you just out of other people to debate in this thread so you've moved onto people who haven't replied to it in months? Hate to say it worked, but here I am, I suppose.

That's not how drafts work. The state doesn't care if you're pro-war or anti-war. You either go fight or get thrown in a military prison, which is probably worse than dying in a ditch in the middle east.

Are your peers voluntarily signing up for the military after school? I'm genuinely curious.

I know how the draft works, I'm just confused as to why you're telling me I should "let [you] know how boot camp is treating you when the time comes" in a passive-aggressive kind of way, like you're trying to prove a point. If I'm being honest, I don't think I'd be asked to serve if the country turned to drafting since I don't suit their needs (since the draft is based on needs), but I won't count out the possibility because they could get incredibly desperate. And for that fact, I'm grateful--don't get me wrong.

And yeah, actually; a few of my peers are going into various branches of the military. More power to 'em for doing what they wanna do, but that's definitely not for me.

I wasn't being passive at all, I was busting your balls because it's silly for you to lean into disenfranchising a conversation you're not even participating in.

As far as your pro military peers go, are they joining because they want to, "kill radical Muslims,"? Because the last time we had a Republican in office I was around your age and that was the underlying reason my peers wanted to join the army, but with Iraq. I can't imagine kids these days think they same way or would feel a nationalistic drive to 'defend their country' especially when an event like 9/11 hasn't taken place to fuel that fire.

That's fair.

As far as those kids from my graduating class go--no idea. It's definitely very few of them from what I can tell who actually want to go into combat (some want to be on the tech side of things) and I don't know why they do.

Can confirm that the pretzel logic of this thread is exhausting, and suffice it to say I don't think any lefties on VC or elsewhere are thrilled about Trump being buddy-buddy with the goddamn Saudis, or engaging in brazen pay-for-play with the Ivanka's horseshit foundation simultaneously getting a big gift from Saudi Arabia & UAE. The Trump dudes on here are nothing if not adept at moving the goalposts and accusing any detractors of being hysterical, kinda makes it a drag to attempt discussion. But by all means excoriate message board posters for not coming in here to express outrage about the right fucked up things when there's like 10 fucked up things happening every fuckin week.

My brother joined the navy about 2 years back.  He and everyone else I know who entered a branch of the military did so because they wanted a steady job with decent pay and good benefits, but college wasn't for them.  So I think you're right, while there probably are some 'defend our country' - 'freedom isn't free' kinds of people out there, from my experience the people who are joining up just consider it a job, like how the rest of us think of our jobs.

Yeah, I still don't quite understand why we were we supposed to come in here and being outraged by the 37th thing we were supposed to be outraged about this week, and that we didn't...

We're dicks....but whatevers.

Regarding last night's attack in Manchester:

Crowder is a loud mouth/button pusher most of the time, but he makes a decent argument. If most people here think religions themselves are regressive collectives, it's not an over-the-top point he's making.

Rambo, I think you've been making some great points recently.  And I think you make a great point posting this guys video, which I watched start to finish and mostly agreed with.

When I say mostly, I only mean --- "radical Islam" for me, it's a fucking cult.  It's just a cult.  It's no different that Children of God or Aum Shinrikyo.  Maybe ISIS or Al-Queda are better organized, but in the end theyre just the Manson family but in an area of the world that is more receptive to insane violence.

I don't hate Christians because of Children of God and I don't hate Muslims because of ISIS.  Off hand I think that religion is a farce and you're ridiculous if you follow it, but that shouldn't preclude you from being a part of society.

My point is that it just makes more sense to label these fringe religious groups as cults and get on with it.  Because there are a lot of innocent people in their world who are just looking for answers and obviously don't believe in Sharia Law or Acts or any other weird 2000 year old bullshit.

Well said. In my younger years I had a lot of criticisms about religious people but the older I've gotten the more time I've spent with catholics and christians at work, and it's funny how much we agree upon and open to conversation a lot of these guys are.

You make a great point by equating radicals to cults like Aum Shinrikyo who were on a similar path but on a smaller scale.

Colin Moriarty just put out a video about Nationalism, and whereas I don't fully agree with embracing collectivism I do agree with him for the most part regarding culture shock and his feelings on some people's failure to adapt after relocating.
