Avant-garde chamber group Rachel's present the vinyl debut of their last full-length album systems/layers on Quarterstick Records. Originally released as a CD only in 2003, this double vinyl LP also includes the vinyl debut of Rachel's 2005 EP, Technology Is Killing Music.

Praise for systems/layers:
“Brilliant… A modern soundtrack to city life—an aural survival pack that pulls out moments of delicate beauty from all the s**t and cacophony. Don’t leave home without it.”  - MOJO

“Sonic layers, classical elements, pieces that seem unfinished, no guitars -  and somehow it all works.”
- Los Angeles Times

“The avant-classical Rachel’s is our connection to beauty, to clarity and simplicity, to warmth that radiates from a single gesture.”  - Magnet

“Undeniable power and grace”  - Pitchfork

Included on the last side of this 2xLP release, Techonology Is Killing Music is an ideal companion to systems / layers. Assembled in the same cut up style, this 20-minute EP is a long-form suite comprised of material sourced from systems/layers studio sessions, live performance, and field recordings.

Limited edition white double vinyl LP in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves is available directly from Quarterstick Records and can be pre-ordered at the following link: http://store.quarterstickrecords.com/products/rachels-systems-layers-vinyl (black vinyl also available)

So excited for this, I even emailed Rachel Grimes to request it a couple of years ago. Wahoo!  For those who haven't picked up her solo records, they're also great.

Book of Leaves and Compound Leaves are favorites:

Also excited for this  news! 2016 just keeps on delivering!

Rachel wrote a nice note when I ordered Book of Leaves and sheet music for my daughter as a Christmas present, and we emailed for a while. Such a sweet, down-to-earth lady with so much talent.

Pre-orders will be shipped prior to the release date, as it is our goal for you to receive pre-ordered goods on the specified release date. However, most USPS and UPS in-transit shipping times are estimates which are not guaranteed, so you may receive your order a day or two before or after the actual release date.
