paulikins86
Hi. I recently got the Sony LX300 turntable for Christmas and absolutely love it! Much better than my Bush turntable/radio combo with built-in speakers. Just wondering if anyone else has this turntable and if they have upgraded any part of it? Whilst I'm far from an audiophile, I'm curious about replacing the slipmat and/or stylus to see if it improves the sound of my records further. Thanks! Thomas³
This is pretty much the old ATPL50, there is not much you can do to upgrade it. LPGear sells styli for it, but it's not really worth upgrading.
paulikins86
Thanks! I had a look on that site and there are a few options for my turntable, so that's good! I read somewhere that someone fitted an Audio Technica ATN 3600 L stylus to the Sony LX300 and it worked well. Can this be done also? Thomas³
That is the cartridge that is fitted on those tables. The only issue, is the tracking force is usually a lot higher and kinda random on tables like that. Something like that would be a good upgrade, if it actually tracks in the correct range. It's an elliptical, instead of the conical stylus you probably currently have. http://www.lpgear.com/product/LPGATN3600DLXSE.html
