No but it's on my bucket list.  I'm not a big fan of "big" record shows in general, usually means everything is crazy overpriced, but I'd still love to see it someday.

I actually went last year..

it wasn't crazy over priced.   but it was a bit.

it was cool, and it was awesome to see a lot of records I rarely see, you know?

I go every other year, because mostly I end up spending way to much money. On average prices are a tad higher than on Discogs, but you will save on shipping. Also I often find stuff I never seen before and aren't listed on Discogs.

Plus there are so many high ticket items to choose from, rare 70's Springsteen singles, they are there, Dischord, Revelation classic are for sale, booths filled with Japanse/South American/South Africa pressings. The list goes on.

I do find a few good to very good deals if you take the time the whole day to search as much booths as possible, you just have to dig and be a bit lucky.

2nd press Bad Brains - Pay To Cum for 40 bucks.

Green Day slappy EP on green for 10 bucks, which sold for 430 three days later.

Quicksand - Slip LP for 5 bucks.

Inside Out 7" on blue for 2 bucks.

Ray and Porcell 7"  out of 100 for 1 buck.

A few of the ones that stood out for me.

I will definitely.

not sure how much time ill have.  but Ill try.

any cool rock bars?

Tivoli/Vredenburg/De Helling is a pretty solid music venue. Ofcourse it depends on who's playing.
https://www.dehelling.nl/
Ekko is another ok venue.

Bars , depends on your taste
There used to Stairway To Heaven,  but it has new owners and is some stupid club.

I went last November for the first time, definitely a bucket list event. You'll definitely need the full day, if not all the days, to go through everything. Lots of stuff mostly in the classic rock genre, especially 60s and 70s Psych/Garage if you're into that, but be weary of skyrocketing prices!

I went in with a very specific list of things I wanted, nothing too rare, and I was able to get everything for reasonable prices - slightly less than Discogs minus the shipping. I managed to get OG pressings of My Bloody Valentine's "Glider EP" and Swans "Holy Money" for about 10 Euro each. I also snagged Lou Reed's "Berlin", Van Morrison's "Veedon Fleece" and Stiff Little Fingers' "Inflammable Material" - all albums i've been looking for but didn't feel like paying Discogs prices plus shipping.

Overall, it was a very nice experience. Unfortunately the weather was rainy and bitingly bitterly cold, but the records and coffee shops made up for it :)

Also I got to see Wilco that weekend in Utrecht, and was in the front row - one of my favourite bands since the 90s and first chance seeing them live. Unfortunately Tweedy was in a shitty mood coz of the Trump win and only did one encore, but it was an amazing experience nonetheless.

I am excited about going.  it'll be my second time.

I am hoping this time to find some more real cheap gems.

I am bringing some records for trade.  do you think that's a good idea?

you know, hard to find shit from the US?

Yeah I think you could, I thought about it but I didn't try it.. maybe next time. Let me know how your luck turns out! It seemed to me the vendors there were more interested in selling than trading, maybe to lighten the load they would need to carry back. But that being said, if not the vendors, you may find other attendees who might want to pick up some of your stuff but again I'm not sure what the rules are on that.

I've never been a fan of croquettes.

Kroketten! Croquettes is french ;-)

And depends on which kind :)

vleeskroketten (with meat)
kaaskroketten (cheese)
garnaalkroketten (shrimp)
aardappelkroketten (potato)

But i have to say, our cuisine (belgium) is better :P

I loved Holland and I'll definitely keep going back, however as a relatively widespread world traveler, I have to say, the food in Holland is pretty underwhelming.

All depends were you are eating, if you expect spicy food you are out of luck.
But there are roughly 100 Michelin star restaurants to chose from. Which is relatively high seeing the size of the country.

Definitely,  rare stuff can be traded, especially American only stuff by major artist is a good call. Think major artist, but also more specialist stuff as old US punk/hardcore etc.

Also be sure to consider bringing back old Dutch beat and psychedelic rock (Shocking Blue etc.) and compilation records of major artist such as Genesis/Phil Collins/Beatles/Stones/Queen/Bowie, especially different or special artwork, those are often just a euro or two, if you dig a bit, but can give you 10 to 20 bucks in store credit in the USA.

This is good advice, grab 4AD stuff like cocteau twins, and like he said lots of import classic rock stuffs, those 2 for 1 compilations are good, and feature some artists where finding 1st american pressings are rarer like Big Star. Keep an eye out for a lot of those british invasion bands especially kinks, hollies, beatles, stones, pretty things they had a lot of uk only stuff that goes for a pretty penny this side of the pond

Lol even though I'm Indian doesn't mean I expect spicy food, in fact I hate spicy food (i'm a bad Indian). I did dine at the Michelin restaurant at the Intercontinental in Amsterdam, which was pretty good. But I was talking more about your run of the mill restaurants on the side streets. Not saying the food was bad at all, just not what I was expecting. The french fries were good though :) If you have some good recommendations for Non-Michelin star places do let me know, especially European cuisine - will definitely hit them up on my next trip out there.

Coming back to the record fair - if you're a first timer when you walk in for the first time it's easy to think you're in the wrong place, since there are a couple of big expos going on in the same venue at the same time. I saw a lot of antiquing going on, along with a comic book expo. I took me a little while to get my bearings and find the section where the record fair was.

I can't wait to go back.. hopefully someday soon! For all those going - enjoy!

There isn't such a thing as European cuisine, for the simple reason Europe is a made up thing.

French has a decent kitchen, Italian is amazing too, some great restaurants all over the Netherlands that only serve Italian.
Best thing the Netherlands has and that you can't really get in the rest of Europe is Indonesian food, Dutch people love it.

Try to steer away from Indonesian/Chinese fusion restaurants tho.
