jmpatrick
Not sure if there are any Marillion fans here, but this sounds cool...http://rockatnight.com/2017/04/marillions-misplaced-childhood-album-set-for-a-deluxe-edition-on-cdblu-ray-and-vinyl-on-july-7/ danyc
filthyrich
Hmmm.... I guess there's very few of us! I only recently discovered this band and album. I guess it might sound "dated" to some, but if you appreciate prog-rock and don't mind some 80s-era production, this thing is a gem. Think Peter Gabriel vocals atop the widescreen keyboard and soaring guitar of Pink Floyd. (And with some Rush-style time-signature trickery too!) This might be blasphemy, but I sprang for the CD/BR set rather than the vinyl. A lot more material (plus video and 5.1) at half the cost. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of live albums on vinyl, and the only other material is the album itself, which is a cheap OG. I did order from Fish's website to get the signed PO. Not too expensive even with overseas shipping. http://shop.fishheads.club/product/misplaced-childhood-deluxe-cdbluray-version/ http://shop.fishheads.club/product/misplaced-childhood-deluxe-vinyl-box-set/ danyc
danyc
Hell yes, I need to get this. Worth it for Blind Curve alone, which I could easily listen to in a loop for some time. FWIW, the label just put up video/audio uploads on Youtube the tracks for the Live at Utrecht 1985 portion of it. Sounds really good too. Script... is right here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heYEFeKutSU
danyc
While not the Fish version of the band, this just popped up on the radar. Worth buying for 'Ocean Cloud' alone, since it wasn't on the previous vinyl pressing. Older pressing is rather pricey now too I believe. Three LP's. Pretty cool! https://burningshed.com/formats/formats_vinyls/marillion_marbles_vinyl-box-set jackshidt
jackshidt
Thanks for posting the Marillion LP! I see that Amazon.co.uk has the cheapest price I found quickly online: $24.25 including shipping to the USA with Amazon Prime. Ordered! Thanks a ton of that tip. Semi related, there is no proper Prog thread on this site that I can find. One should be started I think! Edit: You mean the single version and not the 4 LP version? A link if you could please! Edited August 12, 2017 by danyc jackshidt
jackshidt
Dan, I think I might have made a mistake. That vinyl release I bought looks like the 2012 version, not the new 2017 version. I have cancelled my order.

dawhizz
I might go for this if the did it with Script for a Jester's Tear, but I don't love this album quite this much. Edited August 12, 2017 by dawhizz

Mine is supposed to be delivered today. I've had terrible luck with Marillion box sets the past year. Mainly, scratched vinyl. The thick cardboard innersleeves are terrible. Hopefully this set arrives in good condition. jackshidt
jmpatrick
btw: $26.16 is an incredible price for the new box. Less than $7.00 per record. If all new records were $7 they could mass-market them again. jackshidt
