DecayToDeath
I had all 3 ETR Fall of Troy albums and they sounded great on my LP60. Shortly afterwards I upgraded my turntable and they did not sound great. I no longer have any of those albums. I still have that Something Corporate record that also sounds bad and I haven't listened to since I bought it so I guess I should get rid of that too. dawhizz
I'm proud of my Yahoo spam filter for immediately sending this release e-mail for this one to spam. I'm less proud to have been on the e-mail list at all (I think I ordered a Harvard record from them?).

Bladew1ll1s1sdead
Look, I'm really not proud for this one but I had to have it. This album meant a lot to me in freshman year, if it sounds bad, I can sell it since I grabbed the /100 and break even.

For every release, even the Nickelodeon ones, there is a large enough contingent who justify it because it has sentimental value to them. But then they reiterate that they will not buy anything else from them. This was an exception. Enough exceptions create a profitable business. Well, and the fact that I'm sure there are hundreds of people buying a lot of these releases who have no idea what Ross is about. Also, I'm not shaming you. Just pointing out that a lot of people here end up having an exception or two when it comes to ETR releases. For every release, there's a few people on here who have to have it, because of how much the record means to them. Hopefully that is accurate. I really hope that is true. I can't believe its true just because some random dude on an internet message board said it is. Although, I do believe it every time I get an email saying that an Arabian prince wants to give me a large sum of money and all I have to do is send him 1,000 to get it so who really knows
tokimedo
as much as i loved this record, i will continue to resist ordering from ETR because of his practices. Royce, Brock N Roll and ok.

jhulud
Always heard of this band, never heard their music at all. Listened for five minutes. Nope. Not my cup o' tea. Moving on. At least the ETR thread...any of them...is always amusing. Thanks for that at least. Shelby and marc32137

I have plenty of ETR records that sound just fine. I'm surprised to hear you say this since I don't doubt you have a good system Ben, but dubious sourcing is a known issue with the label. I'd be curious which ones you own that you think sound good, I've never been impressed when friends have played fall of troy, porno for pyros or reel big fish. I should also backpeddle on my last post it's not impossible for a recorded digital record to sound good or better, it's all in the mastering but instead of springing for someone to master it properly for vinyl they usually go for fancy color variants instead. As much as I appreciate a pretty looking record, I don't like dropping $20+ for an album that falls flat dynamically like the last Jayhawks record

kjkenney
After Dark EP was great, but this album was full of cliches imo. Sounds like they tried real hard to get a certain sound. Idk if that was their new producer or what but boy oh boy. If the proceeds are going to his family though, thats awesome.

Giving the family his portion of the licensing agreement does not mean proceeds. Ross will be putting the proceeds into his next cartoon cover song release I'm sure. Does this band own their own songs? If not I'm sure they can't be getting much out of this and the majority of the license fee will go to the label who owns the rights. rooks

I thought Field Day Records were the first to press it. Any idea if that FDR repress sounds better? I bought Boys Like Girls' self-titled from them when it came out and it sounds great. I also only have one ETR release. It sounds really good. Maybe they sourced it differently?
