Sketches of Brunswick East is the eleventh studio album by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. It will be released on 25 August 2017 by Flightless Records in Australia, ATO Records in the United States, and Heavenly Recordings in the United Kingdom. It is the third of five albums set to be released in 2017.The album will be a collaboration with Mild High Club, and will be prominently jazz-based.

Currently there is an ongoing ebay Auction for a test pressing (proceeds to go to charity) On Ebay.com.au. Many have predicted that when this auction ends at 18 Aug, 2017 08:00:08 AEST the pre-order will go live on Flightless Records. Who knows.

How does leaking your own album in 2017 create hype for a band? Especially one that is established already

Most artists are barely surviving. I don't think taking a potential purchase away from a consumer because they"already have it" works for the artist or label. While it might make a few newcomers go out and buy a record, most people are in the digital realm and a leak takes away a purchase.

Murder was also the largest pressing for any record that Flightless ever did, band has been hyped with the 5 releases in 2017 since late 2016 and tours the world on a regular basis.

 

A leak would seem to take away from the hype of release, not add to it. Especially in our day and age where most people forget about things a week afterwards

Fair point(s), I guess it's a pretty stupid rumor.
