Battra
Good afternoon! I'm heading from St. Louis to Minneapolis via the Amtrak. (Before you ask why I'm not flying it's because I don't like flying and I do like trains.) I saw a bit about stops for smoking. Anybody know anything about being able to hop off to have a smoke? Thanks!

Thanks! I'm not a smoker but I believe that certain stops along your route are designated "smoking stops". They announce it over the loudspeaker. I think it's typically larger city stops where it takes a bit to board folks.
Battra
Well, I'll be going from STL to Chicago followed by Chicago to Minneapolis. What are we calling a larger city? (I've only been on two Amtrak trips before this one.) On to Chicago, I'll pass through Springfield, Bloomington/Normal, Joliet.... My stop in Chicago is about 90 minutes, so I might just smoke my brain out there and eat snus on the train. I'm not sure where it goes from Chicago to Minny...never done that before...ADVENTURE!!!! Thanks!
museummouth
I've done Chicago to LA and back twice and the train stops almost every 1-2 hours for arrival/departures, but maybe only 5 stops a day are smoke stops which are longer 20-30 minute stops. Love the Amtrak!
Battra
Well, I checked with my friend who works for BNSF...we met years ago working at literally The Great Train Store in St. Louis Union Station.... There are no smoke stops between STL and CHI and CHI and MSP. So...SNUS IT IS!
