minty
I was about to buy a turntable to replace my old knackered one...until I found this in my garage! It was out there in the damp for years and years, and was even subjected to smoke damage from an old house fire we had...but after a well needed clean up, it works fine! Happy days! minty
Awesome! That must've had a hefty price tag when it was first bought, it looks great! Yeah, apparently it cost loads new all those years ago. Kind of lame thing happened earlier though...the needle snapped (which shows how badly this thing's been treated recently). I don't know much about record players, so can someone help me find the right replacement part? The turntable is a "Garrard gt-35p". Thanks to anyone who can help! monk0nuggets
That is a pretty awesome thing to come upon randomly in your own garage. haha
cadetapplesauce
my dad threw his old, pretty nice and decent working one out. under the assumption that nobody would listen to records any more. d'oh! but whatever...i used to pretend to scratch on it, and my brother ruined all of the records he had. so its alright, i guess. minty
my dad threw his old, pretty nice and decent working one out. Aw nasty. This one almost got chucked i'm pretty sure. I also found a pre-amp in the garage aswell...it's so good! I still need help fixing the needle though. Helphelphelp!

minty
Cheers for that link! Now, I need a bit of help choosing which cartride. This is the current one: Notice the screw areas are open, not closed. Would I be able to use a cartridge like this, even though the screw areas aren't exactly the same?: http://www.needledoctor.com/Shure-M25C?sc=2&category=380 or would I have to splash out on one like this?: http://www.needledoctor.com/Shure-M44G?sc=2&category=
kyle
Don't get a DJ needle, its not the same as a listening needle.

kyle
Ortofon makes some pretty nice cartridges, even in the low budget range (sub $100).
