How do you store your records?

I store mine in the jacket, unless there is a really good reason not to. Like if there is a bunch of stuff that is making jacket very stuffed, then I'll let it out.

I kinda don't understand why people store them outside. The point of the jacket is to put your record in it.

I understand exceptions.. I have one outside the jacket because it's all kinds of fucked up, but to do it for every single one.. strange.

Im just curious/worried about ring wear.

Unless you have them stacked on top of each other (which you should never do) or have them stuffed into some sort of storage unit where there is no breathing room (which you should never do) then I really doubt you'll see much ring wear.

i store some of my more heavily listened to lps outside of the jacket so every time i decide to play them i dont have to take everything out of the sleeve. i figure it lowers the chances of me fucking up one of my jackets.

I never thought about that.. I guess it makes sense in that respect.

Mine are stored in the sleeve, only store them outside the jacket if i'm posting them. You shouldn't get ring wear if the records aren't tightly packed on to the shelf.

I do this too. The record is in a plastic sleeve. Then I put a plastic sleeve over the cover, then the record in the plastic goes in the plastic sleeve over the cover (so I can see the colors).

This way, they stay pristine. You don't have to worry about and light ring wear (which does happen even if you don't stack them depending on how they rest) and you don't have to worry about splitting the seam by letting the record slide into the cover too hard.

I don't expect a reasonable person to employ this method.
