ronniethebear
I never knew he was involved with "Deloused." Interesting. Yeah, he's the reason Cedric sounds like he can actually sing on that record. Auto-tune hello?

lechevre
I think Butch Vig is another producer who's done some pretty amazing things.

thestigmachine
I barely know what a "producer" does. But I do know that most of the stuff that has Matt Allison's name on it is golden...
gimonsarfunkel
Good call on Butch Vig. He produced the Pumpkins first album in Madison.
lechevre
Yeah, I think Butch must make some good cash. I mean he's done some influential albums, even if everyone doesn't agree on them.

Guest scriptedrain
Steve Albini is another noteworthy producer who's done a lot of stuff, including Nirvana's "In Utero." (I know everyone will argue about me bringing that up, but it's one of the albums I think EVERYONE knows regardless of preference). The extensive, yet incomplete, list of his work is here. He's worked with Jawbreaker, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, The Jesus Lizard, and a ton of others. - Jeff

altarsofradness
im a definite albino fan. big black, rapeman, shellac...all great bands. love the way he records drums. the absolute best record he's ever worked on: jesus lizard- goat one of the most perfectly recorded albums ever. altarsofradness
oh yeah, brian mcternan is great. disagree. a lot. i thought that last bane record sounded terrible. guy has no clue how to make drums sound like drums. also, he's at least 50% responsible for the last 2 HWM records sounding so sterile and thin. skumbucket
you must be a drummer! just guessing. i had no problem with the last two hot water music records. they're two of my favourite hwm records. i love them both.
altarsofradness
true. due to the fact that i play them, i definitely pay closer attention to the drums than the other recorded instruments and not to say the last 2 HWM records were "bad", i just thought they sounded way too clean. im definitely not one of those HWM fans that claim all their Epifat shit sucked, dont misunderstand me. i love Flight and a Crash and Caution, and definitely like the New What Next. it just bothers me a little that all 3 records sound virtually the same, production wise. The New What Next especially could have benefited from a more raw, natural sounding recording.

I can't say since I haven't listened to any Bane record all the way through. But I love most of the stuff I've listened to all the way through. Thrice's illusion Of Safety sounds amazing.
