So come on all you whisky people, post your favorites, recommend good ones etc. I'll go first. I got this the other day and I'm really enjoying it. It's not a single malt but perfectly fine as an everyday whisky. This is a blend of malt whiskies from all of the distilleries on Islay (I think there's 8) and grain whisky. j4m35 Posted May 30, 2011 Share Posted May 30, 2011 i bought my first bottle of single malt a couple of weeks ago after trying a lagavulin. the lagavulin was a bit out of my price range, so i settled on the ardbeg standard. it's not as good as lagavulin, but not bad at all for the price. twelvetwenty Posted May 31, 2011 Share Posted May 31, 2011 I drink Jameson solely as a "shot whiskey"... I used to be a big scotch fan with Macallan 18 being my choice. Over the past several years I've been drinking bourbons almost exclusively and when I went back to try scotch again I found that I kind of hated it. I drink Makers (or Jim Beam when Makers isn't available) and Woodford mostly, though sometimes I'll get a small batch bottle of Hudson Baby Bourbon or Manhattan Rye from Tuthilltown as they're delicious. Yea, Bourbon and a little splash of apple juice is delicious! I can talk Whiskeys and whiskys for days! I've probably had anything at the liquor store ranged from $10 - $200 \m/ Now I spend my life pursuing the career of drinking craft beers! Whisky is actually closer to the original spelling, stemming from Scottish Gaelic meaning "water of life." Whisky = scottish/canadian/japanese , whereas Whiskey = US/Ireland (generally).
