TWIN PEAKS (The 90's show & its return) Discussion - Beware of Spoilers!

Episode 8 was simply put the most amazing thing I've ever seen on TV.

Spoiler

Sure you've all already clocked this but Gordon's been sitting in front of images of atomic explosions in a fair few scenes.

As far as "theories" go the internet and youtube are awash with them, but if I had to interpret the episode myself I'd say that when the atom bomb exploded we opened a door way and tore a hole in existence itself allowing the woodsmen and other malevolent forces access to our plane of existence.

One of the oddest, most beautiful, hours of my life. I was pretty much slack jawed during the whole thing.

I'd go with just "David Lynch The Series"

There's traces of pretty much everything he's done.

100% this.  It's definitely his magnum opus.  Every episode seems and feels like a culmination of everything he's done throughout his entire career.  So lucky to be alive during this time.

Anyone care to take a guess who will play Phillip Jeffries (the man that assigned Ray Monroe to kill Cooper's doppelganger)? I'm wondering if David Bowie will reprise his role as Phillip Jeffries. He played the part in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. I know he's not among us anymore, but hear me out.

The "Log Lady" had a chance to reprise her role before she died. And she died in 2015…

I believe Phillip Jeffries also has a doppelganger just like Agent Cooper and is also dealing with it. He's been missing for even longer than Cooper. About three to four years longer.

Just a theory...

I highly doubt Bowie filmed anything before he died. He knew he was dying and was busy with his album and spending time with his family.

However I wouldn't put it past Lynch and Bowie to film something in complete secrecy. I'm not holding my breath though.

I'll basically shit my pants if he shows up.

Don't see Bowie being in it myself.

I'd also agree with the opinions above that the return is not only Lynch's magnum opus but also that it feels heavily tied in with his creative legacy with echoes of his filmography (at least some of it) interwoven into it. Very excited for episode 9 but simultaneously sad that it will mark the midway point before the series is over.

Kind of felt like the "weakest" episode yet to me.  Don't get me wrong, all episodes so far are better than pretty much anything else on TV right now.  But compared to the rest of the season, I'd rank this last.

Just seemed like a lot of unnecessary "long" takes to me.  And believe me, I know more than anyone else that it's kind of Lynch's thing.  There just seemed like an abundance of them in this episode that didn't SEEM significant.  But I know I have to be wrong.  Just my take on it at first.

Still enjoyed the hell out of it.  That was a long 2 weeks.

Episode 10 was equal parts hilarious and horrific. How can there only be 8 more of these things? I'm beside myself.

Spoiler

Funny: Dougie/Coop getting laid and Candy being spaced out
Horrific: Richard Horne nailing that unhinged Frank Booth style energy.

Thought all the Richard scenes were incredible but the whole casino arc was a bit boring for me.  The trailer park and the Johnny scene gave me extreme Leland/Bob attacking Maddy vibes.

Waiting for Richard to look in the mirror and for us to see Bob's reflection.

I'm assuming not everyone interested may be following the Funko thread, so just figured I'd note that the Black Lodge Coop/Laura set is up on BoxLunch:
