youspinmeround
How do these sound? Worth the 30 buck price tag each?
mcpherson123
You can manage to get them for around $20 before shipping in a few places. I have not yet heard any of them though.
morfiend
I have Sky Valley, Blues and Circus, all of which sound good to me. I also have some copies of Wretch in my shop but have yet to spin one yet.
mcpherson123
Just grabbed a copy of Sky Valley recently and I've never seen a first press in person but the cover of my copy looks extremely low resolution. Anyone else notice this? Not that it really matters as long as it sounds good. I still have yet to spin it as it just came this morning and I had to go to work. Speedpig
Yes, I noticed this. I picked up a copy a couple of months ago to complete my Kyuss collection. Hadn't noticed with the other albums, just Sky Valley. Definately low-res. Sounds great to me though. Superb album.
mcpherson123
Thanks for sharing. Sky Valley is balls to wall! I feel like its their masterpiece. Love Blues but I haven't really gotten into Wretch or Sons of Kyuss. I dig Circus. Its taken me a little longer to get into that one but its good. negavinyl
I also need these but rarely see them out for less than $30, sometimes more.
mcpherson123
Wretch is the most expensive one generally and there's an amazon marketplace seller who is offering for about 30 shipped. The rest can be found on eBay for under $26 shipped each. Its pretty expensive still but for such awesome records that are imported from Germany, its a pretty fair deal. My. God..... that's so sexy! Beautiful prices on these. I wonder if there are any cool extras like gatefolds or anything cool. Either way, if its just the album on quality black vinyl and nice jacket prints, I'll be satisfied. Nice to shed that import premium. morfiend
Good to see these getting a re-press stateside but I'm perfectly happy with my imported copies. nothingnatural
natenomm
I mean, for $20 a pop roughly this seems pretty great. Any recommendations on where to start as a new fan?
mcpherson123
I think Welcome To Sky Valley is probably their best. I might have to tie Blues For The Red Sun and ...And The Circus Leaves Town. Its hard to rank those. WTSV would probably be the best place to start.
kjkenney
I always thought Blue for the Red Sun would be a good place to start, just with the fluidity of the album and all. But I started on Sky Valley, and never looked back, so McPherson may be spot-on on that one.

It's the prototypical heavy, stoner blues sound that everyone copies. Plus I'm not sure those who haven't listened to Kyuss yet want to digest three 18 minute plus songs right away. natenomm
Welp, I jumped on the Sky Valley album for funsies. I'll listen to 'em online and if there's one that tickles my fancy more I can always just switch my preorder. Amazon's cool like that. Plus even if they were formatted in the 3x18min tracks, you can still hear that the songs are many (more than 3) and differ enough to be understood as separate pieces. I think all of the albums are basically prototypical because they all have a very similar sound but are composed well enough that they all have their own very distinct personalities. azvd
Either Blues For The Red Sun and Welcome To Sky Valley are essential and will put you right on spot about everything you hear when people praise Kyuss. Problem is you might find Wretch and Circus Leaves Town least interesting or somewhat inferior 'cause they kinda don't represent the pinnacle of the band's discography. burntwolf
I'm getting Blues for the Red Sun and probably Wretch. Circus Leaves Town sounds like it leads right into QOTSA, which is fine, but I'm not super into QOTSA... I can see why people like Sky Valley...it is the more polished, produced sound... faithnolife
All I saw were the imports at first. At $20 I may finally break down and buy these things. mcpherson123
Twistedshabazz
Welp add another thing to buy. The 30 dollar price tag was a bit much but these i can do. Also forgot to grab the sons of kyuss record so will grab that somewhere too
faithnolife
Also you can pre order these on Bull Moose for under $18 ($25 for Wretch). Free shipping once you hit $25...works well if you're buying a few. http://www.bullmoose.com/p/16587712/kyuss-and-the-circus-leaves-town http://www.bullmoose.com/p/16589868/kyuss-blues-from-the-red-sun-vinyl http://www.bullmoose.com/p/16587662/kyuss-welcome-to-sky-valley-vinyl http://www.bullmoose.com/p/16587628/kyuss-wretch-2lp
NoWorthyIcons
Was just talking to a friend about how I need WTSV and BFTRS. At less than $20 a pop and free shipping, looks like that's what I'm spending my lunch money on today.
