tankerdesk
I have a debut and love it. I was going to recommend it to a friend but noticed they recently came out with the essential which is even cheaper. I was just wondering if anyone as any experience with the essential of if they have compared the two.
ajxd
Essential lacks some of the better components found in the Debut.
cymbalism15
More importantly, how do these compare to the carbon? I know the carbon will be a bit more pricey but from what I've heard it's better for upgrading
tankerdesk
The debut has hardwired RCA cords coming out of the turntable. The carbon did away with that. The carbon comes with a better cartridge, and a better tone arm. From what I've read, had I had the option between the debut III and the carbon I would have chose the carbon for the extra $50-$75. Still curious about the essential though. Other than the cart, what is worse than the debut?
kannibal
The essential uses a totally different tone arm design. A unipivot. VPI makes exceptional unipivot tonearms, considering this is on Pro-jects ultra budget table, i'd say it's a downgrade from the tonearm on the Debut. But why even consider the Debut now that the Carbon is out?
kannibal
Oh, I think it also has a thinner plinth.
