stefan
Haven't seen any mention of this, who's in the know?
robotnerd
most hydrahead stuff is pressed on vinyl a little bit after the cd release, fire in our throats was almost (if not more) a whole year later.

oakland
Usually Conspiracy Record in Europe has Hydra Head stuff first on vinyl.

grox
did you guys see the pitchfork review of this record? it wasn't even a review, it was like a personal attack on the drummer.
lostapostle
Yeah, I read it. Pretty brutal, I thought. I mean, some of the drumming is a little weird for what's going on with the guitars, but I don't think it's as bad as what Pitchfork said. I've seen them live before, I thought there drummer was okay.
mattisr1984
reviews are reviews. the album is still pretty solid for what it is (though far from being as good as the fire in our throats). still, i will be buying the 2xlp whenever it comes. lostapostle
Agreed. I will also buy 2xlp when it comes out.
scottheisel
I think the drummer completely and utterly holds Pelican back, too, but I can also see how people don't think that. I am a drummer, so I analyze his movements much more than any other player's, and I always scrutinize the things he chooses to play because I think a different part could make the song "better." But I know people who think his off-time drumming completely makes the band. So to each their own.
xfedaykinx
the drummer has arms made of 2x4s. he is stiff and couldnt complete a fluid fill to save his life. they need someone with more fluidity to help carry the buildups and slower parts the guitar players have become so fantastic at. ever since pelican abandoned their chuggy, heavier roots the drummer became obsolete in my book. has killed both Fire and City of Echoes for me. robotnerd
i think this record is the best thing they've ever done, they've matured and moved past monotony. i semi-agree about the drummer, i don't hate him, but he's definately the weakest link. the problem is, he's the bassists brother.
