We got our first shipment of Soylent (powder) today. The plan is to use it to replace one meal a day. The way our schedules are makes it really hard to prep lunch, so most of the time we say fuck it and eat out. It works out to about $1.50 a day each, which is way fucking cheaper than even just grabbing fast food.

If you've ever made your own bread, it tastes like bread batter. It's really weird but not unpleasant.

I bought a bag but haven't used it yet. I don't even know what I'm supposed to mix it with. Water? I could just google it.

I just mixed it with water. Tasted like basically nothing. Didn't upset my stomach or anything. I've tried meal replacements before and they've almost universally fucked with my stomach in one way or another.

I've learned tonight that my cats hate Full of Hell. So far I've noticed they hate Thou, The Body, Full of Hell, Whips/Chains, and Converge. They're fine with Pig Destroyer at deafening volumes, except for the guitar solo in Towering Flesh. At least one of them fucking HATES that.

Noise records seem to agitate my dog.

Anyone have a good pair of headphones to recommend? I need a new pair for work so silence outside of my ears is really important. $150 is my limit.

In-ear slightly preferred. Over is fine, just nothing yuge.

I have these in-ear for walking around and what not.  They go a very good job cutting out noise when I'm commuting and on planes, guessing they're great for what you're looking for.  Also, very comfortable for 8+ hours.

These are my work ones.  I have an open office and they seem to cover up enough noise that I don't get distracted too often.

I have been eyeballing some nice IEMs but most of my listening is off of my phone so I don't know how much of a difference it would make and having something that expensive with me makes me nervous. I'd worry they would break.

I purchased these Bluetooth ones a while back and still use them. It blocks out the surrounding noise and they don't sound too bad. But then again, I don't have a good pair of headphones to compare, so.

I've been eyeing the Shure that jonrawks posted for a bit now but haven't pulled the trigger on them. For some reason I feel like I shouldn't spend $100 on a pair of IEMs. Feel like I could get a better sound out of a pair of normal headphones. But I'm probably wrong.

Anyone know any work from home jobs/sites? I really need to clear my head for a bit, and I think doing that would be perfect. I don't care what it is, and can get a landline for customer service or whatever.

For supplemental cash to your job? I did Amazon Turk surveys in college. Wasn't much - mostly mindless stuff, but it netted about $100 a month for barely any time/effort.

Fulltime job. I'm debating going back to my old job for a bit, which is half of what I currently make and no guarantee I'll get the same hours. It's nights, which would be perfect to find a therapist during the day. Losing half my income is pretty daunting though, but it'd be enough to survive.

Hey man, I'm not sure I get this thought process.  A week or so ago you turned down a job that was only $6K less because you keep saying you're going to work towards moving in early / late summer and didn't want to jump around jobs because it looks bad on a resume.  Now, you're talking about working a home based job if you can find one OR going back to your old job AND taking a 50% pay caught.  Seriously, that makes zero sense.  ZERO.   At least from my outside perspective.  I know you're having a lot of anxiety issues, which can make your brain jump all over the place.  I get it.  I've been there before.  Fortunately I haven't battled it in years, but I'm also in a much better place in life (THANK GOD).

As a suggestion, maybe you should let your meds start to kick back in to see if that helps bring back some normalcy and calm your anxiety.  Obviously therapy could also be helpful, but I would assume there are therapists who could accommodate your current schedule if you decided to go down that road too.  One time I was going to a therapist and was able to get really late sessions.  Maybe it would be helpful to set goals, a 1 month goal, a 2 month goal, etc., and stick to it instead of bouncing from X to Y to Z, etc. on a near daily basis.  If you're serious about moving and finding a new job, do it, don't just talk about it.  Set a plan and take action to reach that goal.  I feel like succeeding in what you set out and talk about doing will be helpful and also hopefully ease some of your anxiety and other ailments.

That's just my viewpoint, hope it's helpful in some way.  Not trying to put you down, just offering some outside advice and perspective.

You're not wrong! You can get a pair of Xiaomi Pistons. They sound amazing (sound like $100-200 Shures), are comfortable as hell, compact, flat cable so they're tangle free, and if you lose / break them you're only out $5. If you don't really *need* bluetooth (you sacrifice sound for no cord), get them. You won't regret it. I've recommend them to so many people, including a large handful on here, that all love them. I have had four different models of Xiaomis, and have loved them all. Spend less than $6ppd and you'll find out for yourself. (And yes they do come with various sized ear tips.) If you like these and want to move up the chain check out the Hybrids. They're a whopping $16. Haha.

* - don't buy from anywhere but those links, even amazon. Sites are known to sell fakes. Gear Best is appropriately named, cause they're best.

And that's coming from a sound snob who has multiple pairs of headphones, has tried headphones at all styles and price points, listens to all kinds of music, but hey, that's just my opinion. These also pair really well with a portable amp if you're into that.

All fair points. I think I'm just talking aloud. I actually have an interview tomorrow morning for a new position in my department that could be good. I think you're right, I just need to wait out the meds. Side effects are subsiding, except horrible nausea, stomach pain and my head feels weird. I have a 3 day weekend coming up, so hopefully that will help. Just need to make it through the next 2 days, and then Monday I go see my doctor to see what my next steps are.

I'll give them a shot! Ordered the Hybrids. I'm always on the lookout for some cheaper alternatives and it seems like these deliver. Having a wire isn't such a big deal. Not having to charge them is a huge pro for me as it's so annoying having to wait two hours for the ones I linked to be charged.

I've been looking into a portable amp, but I'm not sure where to even find a good one. I've searched Reddit a little bit, but didn't look too deep. But I would like one as I mainly listen to music on my phone nowadays. Also curious how it will pair with Tidal's HiFi streaming service.

also thank you for the links. :)

I get it, nothing wrong with talking aloud either to help sort through things.  I just wanted to throw my perspective out there as I've been been there before when dealing with high anxiety and hating my job.  Another thing you might consider to help with anxiety and overall health is taking up yoga, karate, or some form of exercise.  Exercise has helped me a ton over the years with stress, anxiety, etc.  I got huge into going to LA Boxing type fitness class at the height of my anxiety, and it was incredible how much it helped both my anxiety and overall confidence.
