they're "bootleg"s not bootlegs. The idea is, they're indie-store exclusives that are released in stores one week before the album drops. Not sure what there is to complain about. if you don't like the stamped covers or having an album a week early, wait until the actual release comes out a week later.

Why not just call them Indie-Store Exclusives instead and avoid any confusion and drama when calling them bootlegs?!?!?

After the recent 6131/No Sleep panties in a wad "authorized bootleg" drama, this shit is now off the deep end ridiculous with confusion.

i don't know, i really don't think it's that confusing. bands usually tweet/facebook something like "go pick up a "bootleg" edition of our new record in stores now, a week early!". it never occurred to me that they might actually be bootlegs.

Plus, what does it really matter? I guess I understand people who are against bootlegs avoiding them to find out they missed out on an official release, but the regular press comes out just a week later.

I think it's a cool promotional thing. I loved getting the new CHVRCHES album on vinyl a week early.

I don't really see how this is much different than doing a couple hundred on colored vinyl for the first 200 pre orders, or randomly inserting 300 split colored in a run.

They are only called "bootlegs" because their look is like that of bootlegs from the 60s and 70s. It's in no way a commentary on bootlegs of modern records or trying to cash in on that trend(?).

I can get the Polyphonic Spree, Yuck or the Silver Gymnasium bootlegs if anyone is looking for them. Might be able to get a Midlake as well...thats a questionable maybe. PM if interested.

I am looking for the Chvrches and Polica bootlegs. If anyone can help me get a copy of either of these (without going through ebay. i know i can get them their for ridiculous prices)I would greatly appreciate it.
