holy shit, a 332 page stoner doom thread.  Googled "doom sludge forum" and the top 3 hits were all dead empty wastelands.

anyone know a good sized (wholesale?) one stop for doom sludge etc? I can't seem to find one.  midheaven/cobraside etc have the usual piecemeal bits but where is the motherlode?

I don't think any of us here buy stuff wholesale unfortunately. I'm not sure we'll be of any help to you on that front.

Yeah i cannot think of anything.

There are labels out there that have a huge distro section that are very fair prices. You may be able to message them and see if you bought a shit ton would they cut you a bit of a deal. Halo of flies, eroding winds, a389, all that is heavy come to mind. Most of them already have super fair prices.

thanks guyz will check them out, unfortunately I'm in Japan so with the nutso postage prices from US these days can't afford to buy lp's one at a time and pay $20 bucks shipping.

went back and read first 30 pages of thread, and then last 10 pages, weird to compare, start was all enthusiastic and shoppy shoppy, last 10 were bummed out on the greed and fuckhead shipping chicanery

couple more bands that surely have been mentioned by now but werent in first 30 pages:

THRONES.

GODHEADSILO what I think of as totally underrated sludge. share the fantasy lp.

PART CHIMP. also on the noise rock sludge end, i am come is a yes.

ps, new UNSANE lp in Sep (Southern Lord)

psp CORRUPTED / NOOTHGRUSH lp getting reissued soon.  at one stage I had almost everything by Corrupted but one day stupidly relaised I really dont like the cookie monster vocals and sold the whole lot. MORAN.

Yeah. we're all older and grumpier now. It happens when you see the prices go up and up and labels releasing subpar bands that start to sound the same. AND all the gimmicky farthard editions. I know it has worn me out a bit. Still love the stoner doom, but getting deeper into black and death recently.

Did you get that Ruins of Beverast?

No, I did listen to it afterwards and it's not bad. I got: Jordablod - Upon My Cremation Pyre, Blood Tyrant - Aristocracy of Twilight, Slaegt - Domus Mysterium, and Black Cilice - Banished from Time. I really didn't know what I wanted and was a little overwhelmed, but the guy was cool and played me a bunch of stuff.

What did they want for that EW?  Does it still go for silly money?

It was basically a show piece, so it was priced at 250 pounds. He said he knew it was high, but they didn't really want to sell it. It was probably from his personal collection and mostly up there to look cool. I wish I had a store like that by me. I remember going to one in SF across the street from Amoeba, but I wasn't buying a bunch of metal at that time. I probably missed out on some cool shit.

What's the Black Cilice like? Style/quality?

Saw The Sword again last night (buddy got me a ticket) and I have to say...while I had a ton of fun hanging out with my dude, I'm done with The Sword live. They're just a fucking southern rock band at this point.

Show was garbage, vocals were all over the place, too many new songs, no stage presence, they played some unrecorded stuff that was just a sloppy mess/not practiced enough to be playing live, opener was awful...just all around a bummer as far as the music went. Crowd was really weird too.

yeah thanx, been buying from him for over 20 years now! Not much doom/sludge there though

jealous of that wall of records pic in post above. NO shops in my town carry anything made this century. All used oldies. Although there was one store that went bust last year, run by an old prog/psych guy who didnt use the internet for pricing... and had a massive blind spot for 90's punk/indie/metal etc. AKA, my wheelhouse. It was a goldmine that seeminly only I knew about. I went every week for 20 years and usually walked out with something that left me shaking my head. Neurosis "Times of Grace" LP for $8? Probably my favourite record of all time. Compared the quality to my own copy then almost felt bad for the guy when I flogged it on eBay for 100 bucks.

my take on doom/sludge outlets:

Cobraside: pretty good but they don’t even know about Fedex “Great Rates” for us foreign cunts and that’s amateur hour
Revhq: never ordered but looks slightly enticing
Ebullition: great but not so doomy
Revolver: best. Hello, ACID KING.
Deathwish: never tried but looks good, albeit lacking in the doom.
Armageddon shop online: top shit to deal with for us foreign cunts
Southern lord: great guys great stuff but not quite enough stuff
Secretly distribution: top shit for Flying Nun/Touch and Go, no doomy

Sounds of california. a weird one. no website. And $25 Fleetwood Mac lp's alongside $9 Suicide s/t.

ILD: exclusive distro for SFTRI, Six Weeks etc. Rockbottom prices, no doom.
Musicfearsatan: all the doom but wayyyy the fuck too expensive for this cunt.
Robotic empire: looks ok but never used, tney never seem to have enough shit I want when push comes to shove

Kiwi

ah jeez my potty mouth gave me away there.

what would you guys say are the crucial Electric Wizard lp's? I only have Come my Fanatics on vinyl,  have read some people arent really into it (9/10 for me)  and Dopethrone on CD, still trying to scab the LP version. Where would the cutoff point be?

I will have to check that place out the next time I'm in London.  Looks killer.

....as for crucial E Wiz albums.  I think the most acclaimed are Dopethrone and Come My Fanatics.  If you ask around though you'd get differing answers from a lot of people.  Personally I love the S/T and Come My Fanatics.  We Live would be my number 3 choice.

Got the same impression last time I saw them.  They seem to mail it in these days.  JD seems to have changed the vocal delivery on a lot of the older songs, to the point some are almost unrecognizable.

My tattoo artist is from NZ as well, and we just had a discussion last time I was in about how cunt is always used for whatever over that way and not really used too much here in the US :P

Glad I guessed right!

As for EW, I "celebrate their entire catalogue" as the saying around here goes, but yeah, Fanatics and Dopethrone are probably my 1 and 2. I like Witchult Today a good bit as well. Makes sense though if I'm remembering correctly. I think those three albums kind of comprise a little trilogy kind of like how The Cure's Pornography, Disintegration, and Bloodflowers do.

Supercoven should also be checked out.
