I forgot to add pg.lost to my list above.

Will for sure start with Balmorhea. Any particular album?

Same with Damascus. Which album?

Damascus just have that (free) EP I linked you to.  It's right up your alley.  I'd bet money on that.

Balmorhea have a much richer sound due in part to their vast range of instruments.  They teeter on "folky" post-rock at times, if that makes any sense.  Electric guitar is present, but strings and acoustics often share just as much of the spotlight.  If you're cool with that, I'd suggest All Is Wild, All Is Silent.  It seems to be among the fan's favorites.  Their latest album, Strangers, has a bit more electronic and electric guitar elements.  Neither really "rock" or are post-metal in the slightest, but I'd say they're among the most wholesome instrumental groups out there.

PM me if you need any hookups.  I have faith you'll end up buying anything you adore.  I've got their discography in 320 if you fancy it.

River Arms

Rivers Arms is brilliant - as is everything they've released, in my opinion - but I think it's among their more subdued records.  Far more piano and ambient elements, I think.  I'd easily suggest it to someone who enjoys classical music, but based off king's list in his first post, I'd personally suggest something a bit more engaging.

None of these are post rock or anything but these are my go to instrumental records lately:

Mountains - Choral

Tim Hecker - Mirages

Fridge - Happiness

Odd Nosdam - Level Live Wires

I've also been listening to the Other Short Format Oddities part of The Books - Music For A French Elevator and it's fantastic.

Oh yes, Rivers Arms is a bit different than the others. Good points.

i picked up that album..it was a bit pricey. but its beautiful. came with a CD or DVD, cant remember.

Rivers Arms?  I think it included a CD, if I recall.  I really love the design and presentation of that record, for sure.  Simple and clean, but really hearty.  Just feels like a real quality product when it's in your hands.  If we're talking about different albums, I apologize.

Grails is the shit

Also yes.

Here's some stuff I can think of off the top of my head.  A few might be a little obvious, but you hadn't listed them, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to mention them.

For more guitar driven stuff :

Talons - Hollow Realm

Grails - Doomsdayer's Holiday

Boris - Flood (not really that new I suppose, but it's excellent)

Nadja - When I See The Sun It Always Shines on TV (not instrumental, but I think it fits with what you're looking for.)

Earth - The Bee Made Honey in the Lion's Skull (pretty minimalist, not for everyone).

Animals as Leaders : Weightless

On the more electronic or ambient end :

Oneohtrix Point Never : Returnal

Horseback : Impale Golden Horn

Eluvium : Copia

Locrian & Mamiffer : Bless Those That Curse You

I'm too lazy to look up albums, but EF, Fourteen Nights at Sea and Gregor Samsa are worth checking out too.

Edit : I also support the Tim Hecker recommendation from Bronchitis.

Correct, it was a live CD. No, you're right, it's white with a screen printed black ornate pattern /500. Very simple and clean. Looks and sounds great.

I support Eluvium, Earth and OPN. Easily three of my favorites in the world. I saw Earth play the title track from that album a few weeks back and it was great.

Edit: oh and Boris.

Talons - Hollow Realm

This is so damn good, too.  If you haven't heard of Talons, king, I'd change that immediately.  Hollow Realm is a superb listen if you're into math-rock and post-metal.  It's available for dirt cheap at Topshelf Records as well.  And I believe they're shaping up to release a proper sophomore album as well... in the spring of next year, I imagine.

I have a feeling that album got overlooked by most people.  It was easily one of my favorites from 2010.  I'll have to listen to it again later today, it's been a while.

I revisited it at random a couple of months ago, and found that I enjoyed it even more than I had previously recalled.  Tasty riffs galore.  Totally overlooked.  If you like your post-rock on the mathy side, but still have a soft spot for riff-packed acts like ITTCT, Jakob, or Russian Circles... you need Talons in your library.
