Shitty Rambo
I was flipping through some of my CDs from the early 2000's and it dawned on me that I really really liked Folly and haven't heard anything like them since. Do other bands like them exist? There's something very mesmerizing about the mash between catchy ska breaks followed by breakdowns.
catalinacaper
This band was so cool in my circle of friends when I was 16. I still love that song.
Tommy
My band played with Folly in Ft. Lauderdale circa 2002. They were really cool dudes, I ended up buying their CD but never listen to it anymore
randomfortunepa
Check out The Flaming Tsunamis and A Billion Ernies. And also via Folly's facebook about a week ago: Below the thunders of the upper deep;Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea, His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleepThe Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights fleeAbout his shadowy sides: above him swellHuge sponges of millennial growth and height; And far away into the sickly light, From many a wondrous grot and secret cellUnnumbered and enormous polypiWinnow with giant arms the slumbering green. There hath he lain for ages and will lieBattening upon huge sea-worms in his sleep,Until the latter fire shall heat the deep; Then once by man and angels to be seen,In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.- Alfred Tennyson circuit bored records
Tommy
I just checked the band's wiki and the CD I own is the "For My Friends - EP", I think it may even be signed by the band but I'll need to check when I get home. Its listed as OOP so if anyone here is looking for this and wants to make me an offer just PM me. Otherwise - carry on!
6heart6breaker6
Funny band. At least you know they had fun doing what they were doing.
circuit bored records
Check out The Flaming Tsunamis and A Billion ErniesFuck yea. Played a show with a Billion Ernies like 100 years ago, they are such a dope band. I still rock Please Do Not Reveal The Ending on a regular basis. Album rules. Flaming Tsunamis also rule. I would also add Paranoia Dance Party and We Are The Union to the suggestion box, aside from the more mainstream ska-core. Blue Meanies if you've never checked them out also, less breakdowns but more zaniness.

Shitty Rambo
Funny band. At least you know they had fun doing what they were doing. Don't worry, we all understand you're into far more cultivated types of music just by your screen name alone. JoToRoBo

SmikeX13
The Best Of The Worst is really good and has the metal/ska mix sort of thing going on.

suchashorttime
nothing really touches folly by the end of their career. they were playing some really smart and simple music. there's another ep that found its way to the internet after their two LPs, also. it's very good, but the vocals are low low low. this band was one of 4 or 5 in the north jersey scene that'd be playing every weekend at different elk's and random venues around the area. as kids, we had so much fun skanking around to folly when they were more ska than hardcore. then seeing these dudes blow up, followed by hidden in plain view and houston calls. it was an awesome time to be from north jersey, and the last time this place had any really good music. fun fact: their singer is now a hs english teacher. GradedOnACurve
Loved all of their music. Also loved how in early '02 no one was really at their shows (on Staten Island at least) and by the end of '05 they had a contingent of kids following them, which unfortunately brought a lot of violence. Good tunes and good times though and a lot skinnier version of me is in the Broken video.
dethrock
There's a band from Canada called Ninja Spy that's pretty similar to what you're looking for.
seanmegamitensei
miss the hell out of this band. every couple of years i'll rediscover "insanity later" and jam nothing but that for weeks. think it's about time...
yocaseycasey
I booked these guys a few time. Played soccer with them in parking lots. Ate Reese's and drank beer with them in their van. They were the nicest a band could be when meeting new people, and cultivating the relationships that they created. I approve of this band. Team Avatar
what did you listen to by The Flaming Tsunamis? The are the best in this genre, hands down if you want "skacore". Infamous Jake and the Pinstripe Mafia do it well too
