Was 1994 actually the best year for music ever? Probably, yeah.

I'd probably go with 1973 as the greatest year in music, although I'm biased towards prog rock.  Here are some from 73 -

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

King Crimson - Larks Tongues in Aspic

Genesis - Selling England by the Pound

ELP - Brain Salad Surgery

The Who - Quadrophenia

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Paul McCartney - Band on the Run

The Stooges - Raw Power

David Bowie - Aladdin Sane

Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans

Eminem - The Slim Shady LP
Foo Fighters - There Is Nothing Left To Lose
The Get Up Kids - Something To Write Home About
Incubus - Make Yourself
Long Beach Dub Allstars - Right Back
NOFX - The Decline
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication

Some of the best pop songs ever came out this year too.

The list leaves off

Built To Spill's Theres nothing wrong with love

Came to post this. The only record that really matters.

Edit: I was kidding. Many many great albums released that year. Rodan - Rusty, Codeine - White Birch and Shellac - At Action Park to name a few

This is a better thread than the A-Z quest.  Arguing which year was better.  I was a young lass in 94 but it's nice to put some perspective on what albums came out.

I remember 97 (OK comp; colour and the shape; either/or; life after death; etc) and 99 and 2003 being real sweet.  And 2011 and last year.
