The Vool
This was the table top. There are already a couple or predrilled holes on one end I believe, but you'll have to wing it with the rest once you cut it. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/00251135/ My advice on cutting is to mark the line with a pencil, and then masking tape around it to help keep the cut clean. You don't want the saw dragging across the top and marking it. Good luck! Next time I'm around an Ikea, I'll probably pick up some of these legs....I like the idea; especially with my TT not having a real "ground board". I think you can probably screw the legs to the table top without drilling the wood since it's cheap compressed wood. That's what I used for mine. They come in 3 sizes. I went with the 6" legs. Here is what it looks like when I set it up before adding records Uargh, is this sturdy enough? I would be too scared that the legs don't carry the weight... Yeah that's what I did, just that you need to spend a bit of time measuring and lining them up straight etc.
MahPah
Uargh, is this sturdy enough? I would be too scared that the legs don't carry the weight... I decided to use 6 legs instead of just 4 to make sure there would be enough support for the weight the minimize and wobbling. Notice the outer legs aren't all the way to the edge. And I tested it thoroughly before putting my records in it to make sure it was sturdy. I've had it 4 years now and so far it's still standing solid. So as long as the shelf was put together solid to begin with and the legs are screwed in well to the solid parts of the shelf without stripping the wood (particle board?) then it should be fine. vinyl addict
What are the "solid parts" of an Expedit/Kallax? Other than the shelves themselves, the rest is hollow.

jameshays
I'm a dummy and didn't add a picture This looks great. Any idea about how many it will hold in this configuration?
vinyl addict
Looks like each section will hold ~80 non gatefold albums, so around 320 per shelf. No way this thing holds 500-600 like the plans say, you would be lucky to fit 400 comfortably with room to flip. This looks great. Any idea about how many it will hold in this configuration? RustyShackelford
Yep^ I built them exactly to the plans on audiokarma. No way someone is fitting 500-600 LPs in there. MAYBE if they're all DJ sleeves and single LPs. But even then, it would be absolutely stuffed. 380-400 will be the magic number for me at least. ajxd
My question is which direction is your radiator facing on the SM350s?
Shelby
My question is which direction is your radiator facing on the SM350s? The wall towards the corner. I've been meaning to ask someone what direction would be best, I'm always moving them around my bed. The other is almost exactly opposite the one that's shown. ajxd
Considering the weird angles you have, try both way... as in radiators in, or radiators out. I have mine with one close to a wall, so I do radiators in.
ajxd
Can you... put them any where in a better position? Post a photo of the room?
Shelby
I have the other speaker in its normal spot in this shot. I couldn't figure out a better angle haha. I'm used to just having floor speakers with everything pointing the same direction so this was what I ended up with after multiple configurations. So this is inward I guess. Edit: Oops nsfw. ajxd
Speakers are made to sound good in a specific way. There is some leniency to the configurations... but your setup is way off. You have some killer bookshelves (hopefully you got them on that ridiculous sale), get the most out of them!

Sad Heart
Yes I did. Thanks for the info I'll see what I can do. I showed Brian that trick a few months back, and he was taken back by how much the sound can improve just from angling them in like that. Definitely a good trick to know.
