derrickcook19941
just snagged this guy and wow. this thing is amazing. super clear and powerful, and goes for very cheap resale. its rated at 130W Per but im thinking its closer to 100. Still powers these MTX AAL-2230s and Polk Monitor 60s very well. at under 100 dollars average resale, .08% Harmonic Distortion and a solid amount of inputs and outputs, this thing kicks ass. i highly recommend snagging one of these if you ever get the chance. ajxd
My girlfriend has one of these in her Sony BPC stack. I must say... you're incorrect. dreamover, swemoll, seamoney and 1 other
derrickcook19941
to each their own. in the set up im running right now its working amazing and sounding great. for what i paid im more than happy with it.
ajxd
Glad you're happy, that's what is important in audio. But recommending something of that low quality on a board where people know...not a lot about audio, isn't the best of motives. Especially something from the 80s. xxmartinxx
The beauty of audio is your opinion is completely dependent on your personal exposure to other things. Until you hear better than the Sony, this Sony will be the best amp you've ever heard. This is why when people you don't know say, "This is the best _blanky blank_ I've ever _blanked_!" it doesn't mean anything. Unless you know what they've owned or have been exposed to, it's meaningless. Enjoy your Sony but know there's much better out there. ajxd

ajxd
But do you really need that much power? I ran 60wpc in a 20x18 listening room with full range speakers. Barely ever got it to 12o'clock.
derrickcook19941
I like my aal-2230s because they're nice big speakers. However they need a good amount of power, especially when I'm powering those in addition to my monitor 60s. Also not looking to spend really more than 100 because I'm cheap/have no income so this was my best bet.
allenh
A lot of those lower end amps high power amps really only have two outputs that are shared between the A and B speaker sets so if you do drive four speakers they really want to be the same otherwise things go out of balance and that power does drop. Also they do tend to massage the output figures a bit using peak power or a derivative rather then proper RMS
circuit bored records
Yeah, there's no way it's running close to 100w RMS...
ajxd
If I remember, I'll test my lady's.
xxmartinxx
It probably does 100 watts but probably starts distorting around 40.

rsersen
I currently have a TA-AX390. Without hearing the 380, I'd imagine the two are pretty close in quality. I can say that mine is just okay, and without a doubt is the weakest link in my current setup (AT-LP120 and Pioneer SP-BS22-LRs). Seriously considering moving up to a Marantz PM6004, since they can be had a decent discount right now on Amazon.
GoodwillSalvation1
I agree, if you aren't a electrical engineer or a technician, don't make far out comments about a product. That is why I am just going to say Goodwill had a TA-AX380 amp for $10, a pair of Technics SB-CR77 speakers for $12.50. They work as they should. End Of Story.
