  1. I have the High Fiving MF 12" it's better than nothing at the moment. A High-Fiving MF (Album Version) B1 High-Fiving MF (Kinda Clean Edit) B2 High-Fiving MF (Squeaky Clean Edit)
  2. I just opened my physical record store and I am new to the physical retail store game. I've been dealing LP's online for 4-5 years. Lots of punk, 70's-90's rock, ska/punk, 2-Tone, old school hip hop, and J-Pop LP's. Tons of Japanese Pressing imports and original pressings!! Toxic Toast Records 757 Pine Ave Long Beach, CA 90813 (562) 999-2516 http://www.facebook.com/toxictoastrecords http://www.instagram.com/toxictoastrecords http://www.twitter.com/toxictoastLBC
  3. If you read the small print on the site, it says the only allow 3 free items per customer, per address, and only ONE order for the sale period. Have they been enforcing this? I see the Music part of the sale ends today at 11:59 EASTERN time (from what I read in small prints)
  4. I own a random 7" released by the Catholic church. A story about some boy on his birthday loving Jesus and angels and stuff. It's on red wax. A 1970's LP of a live middle school band. Pretty awful. A rhythm LP with different backing tracks for people to practice their instruments with.
  5. I knew this would happen. When I read people complaining about camping out I had to laugh....really? You think your chances are better online? They are probably worse. I have no regrets, I waited in line for 4 hours and missed buying it by one person. Thankfully my boyfriend was willing to wait in line for 4 hours at a different record store at the same time, and he scored my copy and amazing stuff, plus he snagged ghostbusters for himself and might now be one step closer into collecting records. All in all, good experience, and I don't regret it, even though the record store jacked the price to $140, its only $5 more than people buying online. I would have easily dropped $200 for a box set this big and with these many new to vinyl releases (plus the live LP!!)
  6. So adjusting the azimuth has helped dramatically, but there is still more fine tuning to do and I've kinda hit a wall in terms of limit of my knowledge. Still too much distortion to make it "listenable". As stated before, I'm a complete newb to higher end turntables. Tried videos and still not sure how to use the two-point cartridge alignment protractor. However, upon closer view and setup, it seems there is a long crack on the base, so I'll have to return the item. At least I am learning slowly, just wish there were more pictures/videos on set up for this thing, as I'm a visual learner.
  7. My speakers are pretty average too, if that might give more light (though again, CDs play fine) TEAC LS-MC80 and Yamaha NS-AP4400M I am also willing to pay someone to get the table working right, if it's just my stupidity and not an issue with the table/needle/cartridge Are there any shops in Orange County, CA somebody can recommend that would set it up for a charge??
  8. So...I bought a pro-ject debut carbon new through amazon. I was experiencing distortion on the highs and so I returned the turntable. In another thread ("don't buy a crosley"), it was suggested I "don't throw out the baby with the bathwater", saying the issue was the cartridge not the turntable. I reluctantly bought another Debut Carbon on amazon. This second Debut Carbon is worse than the last one. The high end distortion is atrocious on anything with an "s" or "t" (sibilance type frequencies). I've tried adjusting the weight and the anti skate, nothing seems to work. In addition, the high end also seems to sound far away (it seems when any reverb is used), and backing vocals are coming in louder and clearer than lead vocals. I'm assuming this is a tracking, or some other issue with the needle, but I am a complete newbie in this department. I am so frustrated, and this is overwhelming. Here is what I am using for amplification: 2 different receivers (just using the phono input) Technics SA-GX390 and JVC R-X350V they seem to do fine with CD players through the CD inputs, so I'm not thinking it's the receivers.
  9. I had a pretty good relationship with my post office from being an eBay seller, and I even got the grumpy guy everyone hates to like me. One time had the "you can't ship records" from someone new to the window at the branch, and all the postal workers that knew me, backed me up and it was solved. I started shipping online to save time and I learned the "one pound trick". I buy my mailers in bulk, so they are always the same weight, weighed several records in them and found...single LP's in my mailers are 1 pound or less (everything under a pound gets the same prices as a pound). Media mail is charged in pounds, so any orders of 2-3 LP's or any double LP's are two pounds. You save so much money on delivery confirmation, and you save the time waiting at the post office. Which since I now live in Southern, CA saves me HOURS and HOURS of time each week!!
  10. Thanks for the feedback. I hear so many great things about this turntable, and it seems to be the most referred on these boards. However, I have heard similar issues of the cartridge causing high end distortion on other boards. Then again, I've heard it's a great cartridge/needle? So maybe you and I just got a bad cartridge and or needle? Maybe I didn't align the needle properly (though I hear it's supposed to be done, that's why it comes already on the tone arm?) I'm wondering if I should give it another try. Unfortunately, I don't have an extra needle laying around to switch out to test if it's just the needle. Anyone have opinions on the Denon?
  11. I bought a pro-ject debut carbon off of amazon.com The high end was distorting a lot, after a lot of balancing and tracking, it was a little better, but still bad on the high end distortion. STILL distorted after testing two sets of average quality speakers (probably bad speakers to everyone here): TEAC LS-MC80 and Yamaha NS-AP4400M and 2 different receivers (just using the phono input) Technics SA-GX390 and JVC R-X350V I am hesitant to get another carbon because of the issues I had right out of the box. Am I just missing something obvious that was causing the distortion? The cruddy set up I have now doesn't distort when playing CD or using AUX inputs (mp3 player, yuck) I am contemplating the Denon DP-300F but I read everywhere that if you do, you'll WISH you'd have gotten a Carbon. Up till now, I've had random vintage turntables, but they were the mid range/low range of their times and are not worth the cost of fixing.
  12. I'm going to buy this for sure, but I'm hoping for presses of the albums that never made it to vinyl. "Freaked out and Small", "These are the Good Times People", "Love Everybody". I need more PUSA vinyl!!!
  13. I feel like a tool for buying the MOV release now, especially since mine is on black not purple. At least, now I know to wait and a cheaper "Core" release will be coming!
  14. I understand the feelings...but if you look at it as "my own personal purchase" then yes, there is no point for the kickstarter. Yes, they are a band. They want to make more money, so they want to put out the album themselves...this requires a lot of money upfront, and I honestly believe a band like the plug cannot do it without financial help. I have no problem paying $5 more for the LP so they can put it out DIY and then make a higher profit. Seriously, if both of you bought ANYTHING from asbestos records, the vinyl prices are similar after shipping (some releases are $5 more), so what's the deal? The Big D kickstarter vinyl price was outrageous, but I don't think $20 SHIPPED is too much for an LP from a DIY band raising monies.
