  1. We need the regular, no fancy shit version for those of us know that $60 for just a single record is ridiculous.
  2. Holiday sale going on all weekend, with all of our 2022 releases being sold in a bundle. That's 4 LPs for a total of $50 (so, under $13 per record). You get: SILL/FORM, "Fromthe Rot is a Gift" COLONIAL WOUND, "Easy Laugh" BRAIN CAVE/ KNUB split 12" WIPES, "Making Friends". Also, have a clutch of the UK pressing of the MUMS, "Legs" LP (with alternate artwork and different vinyl color) Go here: https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/merch
  3. Jeff Kleinsmith I believe. The same guy who did a ton of stuff for Sub Pop over the last 15 years (probably most known for The Shins album cover). I like most of the show posters I've seen. I have the Portland one and I think Aaron Turner did a great job with it. I love the Ricky Beckett one for the Boston show, would definitely grab one if they have leftovers.
  4. If you enjoy the various takes on noise rock, post-hardcore, sludgy stuff, and other sorts of weirdo hardcore some of these new releases may appeal to you! DAY JOB, 'The Auger" Birmingham, AL sludgy noise rock trio with a mix of KARP-like heaviness and Lungfish trance-like melody. Debut LP. Members of Null, Bulging https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/album/day-job-the-auger MUMS, "Legs" British trio return after 7 years with a new album full of gargantuan riffs, loads of distortion and feedback, but still keeping things super fun and catchy. FFO; Part Chimp, Torche, Melvins https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/album/mums-legs FACET, s/t Debut LP from this Oakland group. Super powerful recording (courtesy of GSE). Rhythmic post-hardcore with loads of energy, but with off-kilter guitar work; like a mixture of the drive of Quicksand or Stillsuit with Unwound. https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/album/facet-2 BRAIN CAVE/ KNUB split 12" 4 songs from each band. Cleveland's Brain Cave have this grimy basement post-hardcore rock thing going on. Knub hail from Baltimore and do huge, heavy riff rock that the 90's would be envious of. Comes in an elaborate package with cool obi strip. https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/album/brain-cave-knub-split-12 Plus other great recent releases from CHILD BITE, MULTICULT, COLONIAL WOUND, WIPES, and more!
  5. Portland resident. Echoing the sentiments from others. Though Jackpot is not nearly as good as it used to be in my opinion. Blackwater is great for the crusty side of HC. Crossroads is excellent as it's a bunch of different vendors under one roof, all sorts of stuff. Second Ave has good prices for new stuff and is jam packed with all sorts of stuff. Music Millennium is huge, has been around forever, and is overall pretty quality. Landfill Rescue Unit is pretty awesome and has a ton of punk/metal/HC stuff. I always come across some interesting finds for used stuff at Tomorrow Records, generally for very cheap. If you venture across the Columbia River into Vancouver, WA there's a cool newer shop called Ronald Records worth checking out.
  6. I was just wondering about this and couldn't find info elsewhere. Thanks!
  7. Haven't seen a Bandcamp Day post in awhile so while it's still on (4/7/23) may as well mention a couple cheap deals I'm doing. I'm moving across town so I need to get rid of some stuff. So here ya go with a couple options: 1.) Mystery Boxes for $70 (4 LPs, 3CDs, 2 zines, 1 7" and a t-shirt) https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/merch/mystery-box 2.) 2 for $25 on a handful of titles. (6 titles to choose from, pick any two) https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/merch/2-lps-for-25
  8. I don't know about "De La Soul Is Dead", but the most obvious difference on "3 Ft High..." is the track "Cool Breeze On the Rocks" has been completely cut and replaced with this quick little rewind sound. The original track is under a minute and it's entirely made up of samples and pretty fun to listen to as well.
  9. I mean, when you've been listening to these tracks for 30 years and so much of it is committed to memory hearing parts that are missing something, or a little out of place is a bit weird. Good on them for getting their rights back, more power to them and I hope it leads to a new generation of listeners discovering their exceptionally wonderful music.
  10. Picked up a copy and was happy to see this getting the 2xLP treatment. I have a beat up old scratchy OG copy. However, I'm a bit disappointed that they completely cut out "Cool Breeze On the Rocks" and just replaced it with a 5 second rewind sort of effect. Bummer. I can only imagine it didn't clear samples (since there's like 50 samples in the course of under a minute for the whole track), or otherwise would have just been far too complicated to get everything cleared despite half those samples coming from other hip-hop contemporaries.
  11. SERIOUSLY! That dude was on point. I thought he all but disappeared. Crazy. As far as the venue, it's weird because I've been to a ton of shows in Seattle, but the only times I've ever been to Showbox was to see Botch.
  12. The Saturday show was awesome. I saw their last show at the same place 20 years ago and I'd say their energy and stage presence was just as good now as it was then. They were even tighter though now (which I guess comes along with some of them continuing to play in other bands consistently throughout the years). I seem to remember at the last show an alarming lack of stage dives (I think the security there was tighter back then). People were getting WILD at the Saturday show. Very stoked indeed. Heck, I even went to the show with the same two people that went with me in 2002.
  13. For sure. The Wednesday show ended up being the exact same set as Monday so a little bummed, but also hearing the songs from "Leaves.." they played a second time is nothing to feel bad about. I definitely would have preferred more "Repetition" songs for sure though. "Lady Elect" is a beautiful track and I don't think there's going to be a single show where they're not going to be able to get away with not playing "Corpse Pose".
