the whole thing is super off in unpleasant kind of way. Like I feel song supposed sound like a "rough lo-fi/analogue tape demo" but it sounds clean, badly mixed/produced with some stock presets slapped on guitar in a hurry. Based on how he sings text feels like it supposed to be personal and sad. it. But its just stupid and awkward. Video feels like it supposed to be "old found tape" or something. But it looks irritatingly modern and out of place. Anthony looks happy and playfull in the video. But I can't shake the feeling that I watch a guy who will commit suicide in a few weeks. Overall very eerie video\song.

AFAIK it’s only with Cove. I guess the better way to phrase this is: “I wish labels would stop making artists do this.” I believe they are doing this exactly why Taylor Swift, Senses Fail, etc have all done this. A label won’t give up the rights to the music so they’re hoping fans will just move on to this version on streaming services.

I’m curious if they’re re-recording it because of rights. Wonder if they own the album rights or not. Cause I’ve listened to the album a few times since over last weekend, and man, I forgot how good this album is. The drums are insane, the dynamics rule, it’s no nostalgia and all merit. If they did re-record it I’m not really sure what they would do different. Maybe like AITA and have guest spots and a more “mature” version (as Thrice called it). I’d maybe bring the bass up a little more in the mix, but damn it’s so good already.

I liked it quite a bit as well! I watched Immaculate afterward and kind of enjoyed it, even though it wasn't very good. It moves real quick and worked well as the back half of a double feature. I watched Speak No Evil last night and thought it was pretty great! It's an uncomfortable, slow burn.

Leatherface / Frankie Stubbs post: didn’t see this mentioned but RadGirlfriend Records is helping to release the Jesse discography (it seems to be selling out almost everywhere but RevHQ has a bunch up at the moment) Jesse was Stubbs’ band during the first Leatherface breakup in 1994. Loved the more west coast cool jazz in my twenties and since have jumped into my Blue Note era in my thirties. Started with Ike Quebec and Grant Green and now has ballooned to a 24h playlist. So much jazz to catch up on. Love me some 70s Japanese jazz. Soul Media - Funky Stuff is another I’ve grooved to.

Running a record store i'm so used to all these new release double lps being like $49.99 - $55.99.

Just by coincidence I listened to my OG copy a couple weeks ago (and the first time since I’ve gotten a better table and setup), and it still doesn’t sound that bad to me. I remember the CD being mixed like garbage but that’s it. I’m a sucker though and I ended up ordering. I really love the album and I’m curious to how much better they made it sound plus there’s bonus tracks so 🤷🏻‍♂️. Of course we don’t know what they are yet. Probably early demo versions of a couple songs that I won’t care about lol
