  5. I feel like this is more of a list of "things kids-who-have-a-few-records-and-maybe-even-a-turntable-to-play-them-on-but-who-actually-know-very-little-about-collecting-vinyl love."

  8. I'm shocked that people are offended by things like this in 2013... the cover says "The Bomber", not "Look who's single!" or "Everyone loves a rebel!" with hearts flying in from the background anyhoo, I'm sorry that not all terrorists / bad guys look evil. maybe RS will release a variant cover where they've used markers to make him look like a cross between hitler and the devil, and then they can draw a beard on him to make sure you know he's an islamic terrorist, not a sex symbol

  9. I haven't been entering when it's an album I haven't heard of, or one I only kind of like because I want to give people who really want the albums an opportunity to get them. But I was thinking about this the other day, if I win and it turns out I don't like it or don't want it, I'll just have Sec Haze do another giveaway and I'll just ship it out instead of him and pass it along for free. I think that'd be pretty sweet too haha

  14. Not saying that I don't like ALL older bands/artists, but I also don't pretend to like any certain band just because they were popular or sUpEr inFluEntiAl on music today. And when I say music has come farther, I don't mean strictly popular music. I haven't listened to the radio in probably 3 years. I couldn't name a top 40 hit if you asked me to haha.

  15. Just wanted to say that this album is DEFINITELY worth owning on vinyl - adore it. And I have no idea how I was able to snag my copy for $80. Lucky day, I suppose.

  16. Record fairs are a big one. It's nice to be able to mingle about with fellow hobbyists for a couple of days who all share similar interests. I've made several new friends this way and always look forward to upcoming shows, even if the dealers end up carrying little vinyl that I'd buy. One I'll add myself is -- the lack of easy fast forwarding, rewinding, and track searching/playlists. I think this does help with listening to albums in their entirety, which does seem to be a bit of a lost art now with the average person now only listening to a track or two at a time of a particular artist before moving onto something else. With vinyl, I find myself fully engaged in the music and the music only.

  17. oh, it's cool. i was just explaining my thoughts, you were explaining yours. that's what discussion boards are all about, right? if no one had opinions this would be 2 pages, not 37.

  18. That's the guy, yeah. I added his ID to the OP as well. The latest response to my last message posted above: This is getting pretty funny. I also opened an unpaid item dispute today, apparently now that it's open he cannot leave negative feedback.

  22. Not you haha, your bolded quote made me realize what the issue was, problem is I think that's still gramatically correct... Clarification: No pictures of dogs being entered. Pictures of dogs will result in your inclusion in the hypothetical raffle.

  27. I enter all the raffles and if I don't want the record and I happen to win one day I'm going to do a lightning round of Pay-it-Forward with like 10 entrants or first three to comment with a picture of a dog being entered and have Sec ship it to them or to me and I ship to them I just wish I had asome records I could part with and I could give some out too!

  32. People just love to attach themselves to tragedy. Not sure any other way to put it. The other reason being that they just get a thrill out of being the first person in their social circle to announce that a celebrity (or pseudo-celebrity) has died, like they are some beat reporter trolling the hospitals. Just my rule of thumb, but if I can go a month of my time without that person's name being in my mind (a beastie boy, Whitney Houston, James Gandolfini, obviously some dude I've never heard of from Glee) then I don't feel like their death warrants any time from me. I'm not saying "these stories should not be reported", only that I can read the title of the story on yahoo and extract all the info I need (ie, this celebrity died). The details aren't worth my time.

  34. Anyone else notice the dates on the letters that make up the lyrics go in reverse chronological order? I still have to listen with some lyrics that aren't written in chickenscratch in front of me, but I wonder if that has any significance in the way the story is told.

  36. Breaking Bad hands down. This isn't even a contest. Especially when you use the word "better". Some people might like Dexter more but Breaking Bad is far superior in terms of writing, acting, directing, and other production qualities.

  37. So crazy how this stuff comes full circle. One of my earliest musical memories is sitting on my Dad's lap and watching the Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle spin on the turntable. I spin that record for my daughters now.

  41. 39 records, 3 tapes, 1 CD, 3 screen prints, and 8 shirts (a few older "rare" ones and a few regular ones). Paid a combined $300 for the 4 tests and retail price for all but three of the other records. My favorite part about this collection is that I haven't spent an insane amount of money on it. But that might have to change if I want to finish it off haha.

  42. 2.5 years ago, when my girlfriend went into labor with my son, the very last thing I did before going to the hospital was to stop by the post office and mail shit I had sold and/or traded. I knew I wouldn't have time for a while after that kid was born. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR NOT OWNING UP TO YOUR END OF A BARGAIN! Communication is key. Just write every few days and say, I'm lazy, I'm sick, I'm tired, et al.

  44. Coheed and Cambria's Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness It still surprises me that this hasn't been pressed yet. It's undoubtedly their most praised album. It's art would make a sick gatefold, and it should also probably be on three LPs.

  47. You have way better taste at 14 than I did, nice Dear Hunter! Nice setup overall, I would say if there was a weakest link in the chain it would be your receiver. Try hunting around estate and garage sales for old Pioneers, Marantz, Yamahas or Technics, I think you'd be surprised how much better your setup would sound. If you're looking to replace your cartridge (which it sounds like you are) I might recommend the AT95e from Audio Technica, its a steal at 40 bucks and sounds better than many much more expensive options. I use it on my "vintage" setup with my Pioneer Pl-255.
