  1. Scott, you win the best post in the history of mankind. Just got home from the hospital. Sparrow Lucille Cole was born at 12:06am on October 4th. She shares her birthday with Derrick Rose, which is awesome, because the wife and I are Bulls fans. She weighed 8 lbs 7 oz and was 21" long. We listened to lullaby renditions of Weezer songs all day yesterday, and she napped her ass off. She is awesome, and basically the prettiest thing ever.

  4. I think I would have a mental breakdown if I kept such a concise list. I more than likely wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror if I kept a tally on the total amount spent on records over the years. I prefer the 'blissfully ignorant' route.

  6. They have done something you fucking idiot. They came through in the clutch to win three games to make it to the ALDS. They (as a team) have done more in the past week then you'll do in your entire life. And this is coming from a Sox fan.

  9. I liked it quite a bit too, I second the recommendation. I watched the two Josh Radnor movies that were mentioned earlier in the thread. I liked Liberal Arts better overall, but I thought they were both worth the time to watch.

    It's October

I like the movies that stick with you for a few days because of how disturbing they are, way better than movies that are scary while you're watching them and that's it. But yeah, I can't really think of a genuinely scary movie that I've seen in a very long time.

  25. I have a patch on my jacket that says "D.F.F.L.". I tagged the band Dopethrone in it. The guitarist/vocalist ended up messaging me asking where I got it. I told him it was a 1 off but I could have one made for him. I ended up getting 3 made (1 for each member of the band). As a thank you I got a signed CD from them. After that, I talked to the drummer a bit. He mentioned he collected records. I happened to ask if there was anything he was looking for. Just so happened I had doubles of a couple. I ended up just sending them to him for free. He asked for my address so he could send me a thank you gift. When I got it, I opened it to find a test press to their album Dark Foil from Totem Cat Records. #3 out of 5. I was beyond stoked.

    The Ska Thread

Thanks, I saw they were supposed to be up yesterday, and that red haze looks slick, so I'm stoked on that. It's gonna have to be my last purchase for a few weeks, I have 20 or so records coming in the mail, and two replacement turntables getting delivered Monday. Hopefully nothing amazing will come up in the next few weeks!

    Breaking Bad Season 5

I've been rewatching the last few episodes with a friend as he finishes the show. And it's so tense watching it again knowing how things work out, as tense as it is watching the first time around. Especially the shootout.

  31. Yeah I got that link from Sean, that was super nice of him. Like 30-40 free mp3 records. Stoked to get the Cosmonauts stuff and the Pangea record on my computer. Got an email from the guys at YepRoc and they have started mailing orders out in chronological order so its just a matter of time that they get to your order. They will send out a tracking # when your orders go out. And Sean said there were something like 600 orders they had to transfer over.

  33. Cross posting everywhere to get the word out: Important Announcement! Some people have been noticing an issue with Side B of their copy of Total from the box set. If you have this problem, please email us at [email protected] and we will send a replacement. Please let us know within the next two weeks as we have to get replacements cut. This only applies to box sets ordered directly from Clearview. Those who ordered from UYT, Fat or Interpunk will be getting the repressed version so they should not experience this issue. Please check out your set and let us know as soon as possible.

  34. No one is working with anyone. That's the problem. It's an easy snipe on the republican house but for lack of a better term they are holding the government hostage. House republicans could have agreed to a clean budget bill with democratic and even presidential guarantees that reform talks would happen and fat would be cut from the ACA. That way the government remains open to serve the people it represents AND IF reform talks don't happen congressional democrats and the president lose credibility. I agree that government spending needs to be addressed. New spending should take a backseat to tax AND welfare reform. These two systems are essential pillars of the way the United States functions. But they are broken. They are easily manipulated by both ends of the spectrum. The rich find tax loopholes that can be exploited so that they don't make (what the people of the united states deem to be) a fair contribution and the poor exploit the bloated and laughably lenient welfare system. All the while instead of doing something, ANYTHING, our elected representatives choose to name-call, assign blame, and try to coin the next "gotcha" sound byte that will get them headlines. Honestly it is more like gamesmanship than governance, malicious even, a race to out crazy the next nut-job without regard for the millions of constituents their actions are affecting. As I have stated in previous posts, I think that with the right amount of teamwork the ACA could actually work and help a lot of people. Am I happy with it in its current state? No, but it has been on multiple ballots and referendums, served as arguably THE cornerstone of the last presidential election, and here we are. It's time to move on and construct rather than destruct. The republican party is trying to stick to this worn out model of rank-and-file obedience to party lines, but the party lines are being set by the wackos in the tea party, crying foul on any republican who doesn't stick to the tea party agenda and ostracizing them as party traitors. Its insane. Its damaging our government. It needs to be dealt with. I have to believe this is just a fad that will die out once people get tired of spiteful meanness. I have to believe in a nation that won't stand for having its government held hostage. I have to believe in an educated public that calls for sanity, progress, and most of all justice. Because if I can't believe in that, I can't believe in America, and that is something I absolutely refuse to accept.

  35. I wish the Democrats pulled this and de-funded Iraq War spending back in 06 after they won. I mean I opposed the war and I still have to pay for it. Yes I know its different, but I'm using House Of Representative logic.
