Coheed & Cambria RSD14 release?
throwgncpr and 3 others reacted to THE_James_Champ for a topic
Alright, so here's the deal. I'm making this my first post, so yay. I spoke to Paula with Sony Canada today. I explained to her that the release was popping up on sites, and was available for purchase. I gave her the UPC, and it did pull up in the system, however, the UPC matched one that was cancelled in March. It was a for Good Apollo 1 pressing, and that was to be a RSD release in Canada. Apparently, everyone assumed it was pushed it back, presumably for Black Friday, but as it turns out, that isn't the case. After Paula did some research, she called me back explaining the cancellation, and that this was NOT going to be pressed, due to a determination from Sony USA. She inquired about it, and received an email back saying there were no plans, present or future, to press the album. So that's the story of the pressing that doesn't exist.4 points -

55/100 Music is unquestionably the main focus of your life, and you spend a huge amount of time and money on your obsessions. A lot of people are in awe of you. I'd opt to change 'in awe of' to 'disappointed in'.3 points -

No problem. Skully'z had all of the ones that got away this RSD. This year, I am officially out of the maw of eBay flippers!!!! Unless of course I decide not to bid on Jack White's Lazaretto, which can't be found anywhere else, really. Here's my friendly advice to people still searching for that "elusive" disc: Stop obsessively refreshing those familiar websites: BullMoose, Earcandy, Turntable Lab, Amoeba, etc. They are pushing the envelope in being "independent" record outfits anyway. Instead, go out to RSD's participating venues at http://www.recordstoreday.com/Venues. Look at local record shops and then branch out from there. Find the listed shop's Facebook pages and find the phone numbers. Pick up that phone! I've learned that in spite of it being 2014, a lot of truly independent record shops are still "low-tech" and do not have the capability to keep a live database (or even a website). In addition, posting leftover RSD stock to a site like Discogs is pretty expensive (8% + paypal fees), so I can see why small record shops go the Facebook route. Facebook is a very low-cost option to get the word out there. See you in the crates next year! I'm praying for a DELUXE REISSUE OF MODEST MOUSE - LONESOME CROWDED WEST. Take that as a hint for instant $$$$ to the RSD organizers out there....2 points -

I'm surprised he's still attempting to progress in the industry. Largest case of talent dwarfed by personality/choices I've ever witnessed. Won't deny he's an impressive vocalist though.2 points

If you are receiving a cancellation notice it is because of the second change in servers during the day that was done to increase bandwidth again and then moving to another dedicated server caused an interruption between our server and Paypal. As long as you you have a order number and a Paypal confirmation number you are fine-you will receive your order. The orders are being processed and the statuses are being changed manually. All orders that read cancelled will be in the process of being approved, packed and shipped within the next several days. Some of you already have received confirmations, and a large chunk of orders have been processed and packed.2 points

I think this is just a poor argument that people simply accept because, well, everyone else does. Home team, sure but let's take Toronto for my example. I live in Kitchener, about an hour west of Toronto, so would be my closest thing to a "home" team. The amount of guys actually from Toronto on Toronto is only a couple, even less if you count Toronto as their city and not from just the Greater Toronto Area (tons of separate cities). "Canada's Team" sent two American's and a Russian to the Olympics... Not to mention the fact that I've had to watch as so many young brilliant careers are ruined by an organization who has garbage development then trades them off to make room for the most mediocre free agent they can grab. They have no leadership I can look up to and get behind and even if I wanted to go see them, I'd need about $300 just to be able to sit in the rink. $200 if I wanted to stand at the top. The biggest reason though is how they play. I have my team but I like watching certain brands of hockey. A bunch of rush hockey with stretch passes to a winger who sits at the far blue all game? Not really my thing. I don't want to see a fight every single period and there is no way in hell I'm going to pay money to watch Colton Orr or Fraser McLaren skate around blindly. These are all attributes and have become benchmarks and calling cards of this team and I'm supposed to respect it because I live close to them? Not to mention I was born in 1990, got to witness one of Canada's greatest players lead the Red Wings to championships and stayed along for the ride because i respect the organization and style of play. I'll die before I cheer for the Leafs ever. If more people stopped cheering for the home team, Toronto would be in a much better position to really turn this team around and some actual pressure to create a competitive club would be there if the seats were empty. But hell, 8 misses in 9 years and a 47 year drought has the people begging for more somehow.2 points -

So this morning I took my boy out to breakfast since my wife is sick. I wanted to let her have the house quiet for an extra hour before I leave. While at the diner a patron and the hostess start loudly talking shit about my fire company and my friend who is the town administrator. After letting it go a minute they are just piling on so I finally interject that while a new firetruck was expensive it was a hell of a lot cheaper than asking volunteers who have four year olds to work in dangerous conditions on outdated and dangerous equipment. I shut them the fuck up fast.2 points -

Walmart sells these lil-ass milk crates for pretty cheap. I snagged a few during a dorm-room stuff sale and they were only 75 cents each during that. I think they're like $2 normally.1 point
