  2. Generally as soon as I'm able to say something is happening I post it here. I'm working on many things but I believe anything I'm able to talk about as of now has been posted somewhere on this board.

  3. Kinda surprised it took this long for someone to show up here with this bullshit.

  4. Because, it's a format of music that (although is "trendy" now) isn't practical for the average 2014 music listener and may even be obsolete soon. Who knows?! At least I'm a product of the 2000s generation who is actually still buying physical copies of albums. Let alone, vinyl records. Opposed to just downloading music and not spending time reading liner notes, or appreciating the album art or listening experience. When I do decide to listen to the records I own, it's an activity for me. It's a different thing listening to the music I love on vinyl. And, a lot of people my age and younger wouldn't/don't appreciate it. Vinyl records are obviously something everyone on this website loves. I think we should all be happy if younger generations continue to show interest in them and continue to purchase them, so that the demand for vinyl will still be high years from now. Instead of being vinyl-collecting snobs and sticking your nose up at younger buyers who lack the knowledge or number of records you have.

  5. Anyhoo. Welcome aboard ibrittanybutler. You'll find that the longer you stick around, your musical tastes and horizons will expand. Don't take some of the initial "hazing" personal. Happens to every new person around here.

  12. So I've been having a lot of issues with my mental health and I spent the entire day today listening to records and trying to compile a list of upcoming releases. I think that I did a pretty good job, even if the formatting and appearance aren't the best. Anyway, you can view all of these upcoming releases here: www.melodicallydeaf.com If you think this is something that's kinda cool, please feel free to help out; let me know what I've missed or what's coming up. You can do so by replying here, but if I don't see it, feel free to PM me. Thanks for caring!

    IKEA or DEATH

IKEA is that friendly shop where you get cheap furniture from the inside of a giant, unending warehouse. Black metal is the kind of music that sounds like someone screaming while trapped inside a burning church. They each possess a fervent fan base. And to tell you the truth, the names of the furniture in IKEA sound a lot like the names of black metal bands. Consider this quiz an educational way to learn the difference between the two. It doesn’t matter if you know who Burzum is or if you’ve ever sat in a Preben chair – it’s time to have some kvlt fun. Death to false furniture! http://ikeaordeath.com/ http://ikeaordeath.com/ http://ikeaordeath.com/

South Side Life - OMNI b-side, released on a 7" for RSD 2012 Your Private Sky - OMNI b-side, released on a 7" for RSD 2012 The Lucky Ones - Another possible new track? 18. Old B-Sides probably better songs than any new material by this band. Some of these have already been released, no?

  19. No reason to get so aggro there, Farts. This record's existence is not an affront to you on a personal level. It's an art project, but is very practical within it's own purpose, which you may or may not find practical to your own life... To misquote Ian Svenonius "Art ain't for everyone". It is a neat idea, but the execution is not flawed. It is the way it is for several reasons. 1. It requires extra clearance because of the nature of the off-set holes. Without the extra clearance, the pattern of holes wouldn't work, and as you can see in the photo, the grooves narrowly miss the holes at every point. Technically, you really only need 1/2 inch (or less) on most turntables. Each record is a little but different and I was just being a little on the safe side in the video. They play fine on every dj turntable I own. Why the hell would you buy this? I don't know... Apparently you aren't going to... but thats ok, Farts... I won't take it personally. 2. Due to the overlapping grooves, some of the rings make a weird chirping sound. That sound might get kind of annoying if it happened twice every 1.8 seconds in an actual song. So, Dimitri wrote a sound collage composition with the chirp in mind and uses it as a beat. 3. Due to the handmade nature of the drilled holes, and the fact that the holes keep getting in the way of the groove, each ring is going to fit music of variable lengths, and not more than a couple minutes per. Therefore, the music had to be suitable for being cut up anywhere and into any length. 4. The music IS just sounds. Cut and pasted sounds. There is a huge culture out there dedicated to noise, avant garde music and experimentalism. Some is great, some is downright awful and most falls somewhere in the middle. And two different people with different tastes will have completely opposite opinions about all of it. And that is ok. All in all, most people buy records for the artistry of vinyl. Sure, the fidelity can be better than digital (if you have a really incredible playback system and a superhuman ear), but there are a lot of more important (to me) reasons behind making/buying vinyl. The fact that it's a physical format, the artwork, the tangible interaction it requires, the way your collection describes your personality, etc. The things I make are an extension of myself. And not everyone "gets" me or understands why I do what I do. My normie coworkers didn't, my parents don't, and apparently you don't. It's ok. I still get along with my coworkers and my parents, and hopefully you, Farts. I don't understand why people like football, futball, or Miley Cyrus. But, what will be, will be, and what does it have to do with me? Shooby doobie doobie, weeeee! Plus, to quote Bob Dobbs "Fuck em if they can't take a joke..."

  20. I don't think anything is adjustable on this table. I know you won't like this, but since you said you're planning on getting a new table soon, the best thing you can do is hold off on playing your vinyl until you do. This thing did enough damage to your records already and the sooner you stop using it the better. If you want to continue using it you'll just have to accept the fact that there likely isn't any solution to your problem. Off-topic, I love the troubleshooting guide on this thing:

  21. Hey all- would someone send me their South Park record sleeve once they get theirs? I have a large scanner and a large printer & I can do a mass run of any of these sleeves for just $8 which is almost 50% cheaper than Andrew's sleeves. PM me if you want one.

  22. This is a completely hand-made art record guys. It is not a mass-produced industrial product. Needlessly fancy, definitely. And you haven't seen anything yet... my next several are needlessly fancier. And I know it's expensive, but it's expensive and time consuming to make. The breakdown: $3.50 worth of plastic, the time to route out the disc on a circle jig, drill the holes, $4.50 for a full color 11x17" transparency, $1 for a picture disc sleeve, Paypal fees + Online Store costs = $1.50ish. Plus the time to make them (about 45 minutes each to prep the disc, cut them, flip them, clean them up, package them in the sleeve, process orders, mail them, etc etc. ), plus add 1/3 to the total for the cost of the free copies given to the artist which I never see a dime for. . So, when it comes down to it, I am essentially making far less than half the hourly wage I used to make as a high school teacher to make these. Maybe $15/hr (that I use to feed/clothe/house myself, my wife, and 3 year old daughter), not accounting for all the time and money I've spent on buying and learning how to use the specialized equipment required to produce these. I can certainly sympathize if $35 is out of your price range for a weirdo art record by a band you may have never heard of, but please understand the reasoning behind the price. If Jack White can sell an industrial mass-produced product for $200 a piece, I feel like my asking $35 for a labor intensive, hand-made record is not that far out of line.

  23. I like how you're following the VC rules and 2 posters with less than 50 posts are trying to bully you. Free bump even though you probably don't need it, because someone with 24 posts is going to come in here later today with the Jackie Chan meme thinking they're cute.

  34. The day someone flies to a city that has a hot topic that happens to have a $20 blink182 record in stock is the day that I will castrate myself, smear my own shit all over my body, pour gasoline on me, light myself on fire, and jump off the roof of the Empire state building while screaming Blonk. Simple.
