  4. There's a reason you were kicked off of Reddit a year or two ago - You spam your Discogs link on every single vinyl forum on the internet & every city on Craigslist, and then you get defensive about people calling you out for it. Honestly, it comes across as really desperate, makes me never want to buy from you, and makes me want to actively encourage others not to as well. Your replies to your negative reviews are very unprofessional & telling as well... Your reply to that review: There's also the issue of your prices being completely absurd (Aren't you the person who was once charging ~$150 for a Barbra Streisand LP?!): The Latin Brothers ‎– La Negra Quiere Cheapest VG+/VG copy available: $15 Your price for a VG+/VG copy: $100 Grandmaster Caz ‎– MC Delight (Casanova's Revenge) Cheapest VG+/VG+ copy available: $55 Your price for a VG+/VG copy: $140 Lex (46) ‎– Commin Up Cheapest NM copy available: $79 Your price for a NM copy: $200 Reggée* ‎– Dick Is Hard / Jimbo Is Hard Cheapest Mint copy available: $35 Your price for a Mint copy: $200 I could go on and on, but I don't have the time. Seriously... if you want to actually sell your stuff, you shouldn't price it 2-3x what it has ever sold for & sell dusty-ass over-graded records. Watch out for this guy everyone. EDIT: My apologies... you weren't charging $150 for that Streisand LP... you were only charging $90. http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/109766-large-collection-of-records-15000-lps-and-12in/#entry2181230

  7. you came in after this, but "dismantling" for sale threads is frowned upon due to quite a bit of scamming. When something sells in the future, just strike it out and write sold next to it and don't bump the thread anymore. It'll sink to the end of the forum eventually.

  16. The arm is actually the main reason for the vertical design. The idea was to make a tangential arm without the air bearing, so that the bearing is fully mechanical (the biggest issue with the air bearing being that it completely decouples the arm from the rest of the table, thus the vibrations, produced by the stylus, cannot be transferred out of the tonearm, meaning they have to dissipate in the arm itself), but with the standard design the counterweight makes the entire arm too heavy. With the vertical design, the counterweight is only there to compensate for the cart weight/setting the tracking force, making the entire arm weigh only about 70 grams (with the counterweight and cart, the arm alone is around 36g). Some fun facts about the design: The arm including the wiring is easily interchangable, so that you can have more than one already preset with the cart and just change them in a matter of seconds. VTA is changed by moving the platter to or away from the base and can be done on the fly during playback. The platter is about 16" to increase torque, which is crucial for MC carts. The entire design is actually really simple, but very effective. It's also interesting that it seems to be almost completely immune to vibrations, you can see that everything is rigid, no dampening material or cone feet or anything, yet it produces zero feedback even at loud volumes. It's one of those things that the designer wasn't expecting, but was very delighted to find out. All this was in 2012, I haven't really followed the production since then. The idea was to make 10-15 pieces (it's basically a DIY project, though by a guy who's been making turntables for at least three decades, but only custom built ones). Not sure where the the project went from there. Also, the cost of one was if I remember correctly around €3k. But yeah, this has absolutely nothing in common with the current fad of vertical turntables. I just posted it to share that you can make a high-end vertical table, but only when the form follows the engineering, not the other way around.

  20. Does anyone want to buy some cardboard mailers? I'm wondering if it's even worth it. But I have about 6/7 mailers and some boxes. Figured I'd reach out. EDIT: just remembered that I'm going to my parents house next weekend and there are over 15 mailers there as well.

  26. Basement's new record is only $19 with prime! That's cheaper than the $15 USD price from RFC. (This often happens with new releases from RFC/Topshelf, then immediately jumps back up to like $30, so keep an eye out). https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B017S7GXGM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1454352389&sr=8-1π=AC_SX220_SY330_QL65&keywords=promise+everything

  34. Yeah, but which version are you talking about? Cause there are many... I've always thought 'the best version of Nevermind' has been an interesting topic. There was a point in my life where I spent about a month hunting down every conceivable version of Nevermind I could get my hands on. I then spent more months analyzing them over, and over, and over again. Comparing dynamic range, clarity, each instrument alone, and all together. I ended up having different version to suit what style I wanted to hear. Sometimes I want punch. Sometimes I want it as clean as possible. Good thing I have choices. What it all came down to is how YOU want it to sound, what you think the best version is. (I did a chart for all of them in Small Talk like a year ago -- this is my favorite album of all time, mind you.) Keep in mind personal preferences, and set ups are going to come into play, obviously (with all albums). Here are my personal favorites: 1.) MFSL 24k CD | FLAC | 12bit | 44.1k ||| This version is so punchy, ambient, bright, and is my personal favorite. Plus you get 'Endless, Nameless'. If you think the drums are huge in the copy you listened to... holy fuck, check this out, NOW. (This is my go to digital copy. This is what I use to test new digital equipment.) 2.) ORG Pallas Vinyl (2013 Repress) | FLAC | 24bit | 96k ||| A lot of people say this is the best, and I don't blame them. It sounds incredible, and has a lot of depth. This is definitely the cleanest version. Best part is that you can get it for $25. (This is my go to vinyl copy, hands down. This is what I spin to test new analog equipment.) 3.) Devonshire Mixes | FLAC | 12bit | 44.1k ||| Oh, man. Butch's original version is just something else. It's hard to really describe hearing this, and comparing it to the Butch/Wallace mix. This is more so a personal contender, and less of a 'best sounding DR wise'. Honorable mentions: 1.) German 2008 Geffen 320 'Back To Black' - a good amount of people say this is the 'best' copy. It's definitely up there for sure. Has a very natural sound to it. Seems they didn't mess with the EQ a lot on this copy. (2nd place for vinyl copies. I spin this one if I want the 'original' sound. You can get this for $20.) 2.) US OG Geffen 1991 - very balanced, but good luck getting a physical copy without breaking the bank. 3.) US 2009 Geffen Pallas ORG (Pretty much the same as the 2013 [my number 2 overall], except more expensive.) If we are going straight audio, without Devonshire: MFSL 24k > ORG Pallas > German 320 'Back To Black' tl;dr Best digital: MFSL 24k / ORG Pallas Best analog: ORG Pallas ___ I don't know why I typed all that at 5AM...

  35. for Sparkle and Fade had to break down and go with soundstage direct (and their 12% off deal) and get shipped to my US address to pick up later came to just over $36... 22 bucks was the cheapest to ship to Germany. The price is STILL OUTRAGEOUS overseas. 91.28 at amazon de!!!!!! Marketplace a huge deal at 79.99!! Hhv has it at 54.99, but that doesnt even reach their free shipping threshold and its not even available to ship for another month. I've been watching this since it was announced and expecting the price to drop to at least halfway reasonable levels... really odd.... I am willing to bet in six months to a year I can get one of those hhv copies at a radically reduced price! I guess I get the comparisons to other 90's one hit wonders and radio rock, and except for a few songs on So Much For The Afterglow, I am mostly indifferent to Everclear, but Sparkle and Fade is a really really great mid-nineties rock album. One of my favorites all time albums, even if Everclear doesn't rank as a band I particularly enjoy. I wouldn't write the album off based on their radio hits and because of the 'era' they came from... I did listen to their newest, Black is the New Black, and though I don't love it, its definitely a return to their paced catchy sound all the way through. I liked it alright, but Sparkle and Fade is where it's at with these guys.

  43. So, I never u set stood the whole Springsteen comparison regarding Gaslight. Sure, they play four chord rock n' roll and Brian has a gruff voice, but there weren't a whole lot of similarities outside of geography. However, this tune has got Springsteen all over it and I love it.
