  5. I have no idea if it's old news or not. I'm kinda out of the loop I guess. I was just curious if people were mad about it. It personally doesn't affect me. And oh yeah... Don't mind me. I'm just taking the mods for a walk. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)╯╲___卐卐卐卐

  8. So if Circa Survive takes 6 months to fulfil a pre-order it's just playing the game, but when waxwork takes 3 it's a mutiny? I'll never understand this board.

  11. He hates that he is nearly 50 now and his glory days of getting young chicks are over. And the guys clamoring for vinyl just reinforce that point I think. Could also be that he has this whole Hank Hill thing going on now too lol

  12. It's that infectious hook, man. I can honestly listen to Vertigo Flowers on loop for an hour and not get sick of it. It just gets stuck in your head, and I'm perfectly ok with that.

  13. Major Bush - Swallowed feel with this one, Grohl. Nice track, though Vertigo Flowers had a stronger first impression (and maintains a lasting impression). This may rustle feathers, but I hear Creep. Finally, I am glad we are getting closer and closer to the album's release, because I am pumped

  14. Just a heads-up, the new Barons stadium downtown was only built 3 years ago. The stadium where Jordan played is out in Hoover at the Hoover Met. The field depicted at the beginning of Space Jam is supposed to be Rickwood Field located here in BHam....which is actually the oldest Baseball Park in the world and really really fucking awesome.....but in a sketchy part of town.If I'm still in town, I'm SO down for food.

  17. Oh my god I know. People PAY to meet them. Like, really? At a concert, well... festival. I hate all the random people that come because they are "famous". If you are in a band then you should be there. If your a " celebrity", you shouldent be touring with the bands.

  23. Don't hit Muscle Shoals on a Sunday, most of the town was closed when I went through (included Fame & Sound Studio). Do eat at Champy's Famous Fried Chicken. I also suggest going to the preserve/dam, there is a cool water fall and some nice nature trails. Memphis, if you're into sports (outdoor), the Bass Pro Shop was kind of amazing, and they have a observation deck looking out at Memphis. Definitely do the tour at Sun Studios, that was easily the highlight of Memphis for me. The Gibson Factory tours fill up quickly, we got there at like 10am and it was already full for the day (and next day). Beale Street is like a relaxed version of Bourbon, it's not bad. Food, I suggest Gus's World Famous Hot Chicken. New Orleans wasn't really for me (I don't drink/care for people that are drunk), but the music scene is great, if you can.. see Preservation Hall Jazz Band (or any show at the Hall), that was a great experience. I hit a Saints & Pelicans game while there, the Saints game was definitely cool (the game got them in the playoffs, so it was a elevated atmosphere). Also check out The National World War II Museum. The beignets at Cafe du Monde is my suggestion there.

  30. Doesn't like the way discogs displays pressing info (what's wrong with it, btw?)... so comes up with an insanely labor intensive 'solution requiring a lifetime and a small army. Positivity is a good thing, but so is reality. Friends like these are the type that let their friends go onto, for example, American Idol when the person is actually tone deaf. When they get there they're caught off guard and totally dumbfounded by the judges responses... "But my friends said I could sing!"

  31. Hey, I've seen dumber collectibles. If that's what people are paying I say go for it. If I could pay for a big chunk of a trip to the other side of the world with one song I would be all over it

  32. I don't think many people here are thinking to themselves "fuck I missed the limited variant, I just won't buy this at all." So overall it is about getting any copy of the record, the hunt for the rare variant or one that is aesthetically pleasing is just a side quest for most of us.

  33. Bumping because I just now noticed this from the label in charge of the reissue: I'm somewhat curious to hear what a Jack Shirley remaster of this album would sound like. Still not giving up my original pressing though.

  37. I have a set amount I allow myself to spend on things, but if some "vinyl emergency" comes up, I can cover it if I really want to buy something. That said, I know some folks on this website don't understand the difference between things they want (records) and things they need (food/clothing/shelter). Some people automatically budget in their head, but others need to write down exactly what they can spend and stick to that. Every time I go to buy something I run through in my head: 1) Is this a need, or a want? 2) Can I find this cheaper somewhere else/will it still be available at another time when maybe I have some "extra" funds? 3) How will this affect me being able to a) save money for the future pay for my actual needs c) not make my wife angry for me spending money on it? If I meet all the right criteria, I buy it. If not, I don't. I think a lot of people (both in general and on this website) have problems with impulse control that having a written budget may be able to help them with. No one should go into debt just trying to buy a bunch of records.

What video games have you been playing?

A guy talking about a video game in the video game thread? Let's lynch the bastard. Some people around here need to get the hell over themselves.

  39. It looks pretty and looks beautifully engineered but what's the point of it? am I missing something? It's April 1st is it? Seriously am I the only one who thinks this is the most stupid idea for quite some time? Its a study in how to introduce warps into play on a perfectly flat record, has no one ever heard one of those portable things? I thought the whole point of a platter was to support the flimsy record and to stop it moving in a vertical plane as it's played and to offer some isolation from outside forces again to stop it moving and transferring that movement into the stylus. I wouldn't walk around near this thing and you better not listen to any music that makes you dance anywhere near it. The platter on a turntable is there for very good reasons so pretty as this looks this is another example of trying to fix a problem that isn't really there in the first place and in this case by removing the platter all the maker will succeed in doing is re introducing the problems the platter removes by being there in the first place. The theory here is that the transducer (the cartridge and stylus) should be in free air and it's a valid one which is also true of a speaker but the problem here is that the whole playing feedback loop isn't in free air, the arm and especially the stylus are not in free air so all this does is remove the force that is counter acting and trying to equalize the force of the arm The material a platter is made of has all sorts of effects on the sound produced but removing it really doesn't have a good effect at all. The effect on the cartridges suspension will be terrible as it's designed to flex from a reference plane which is the platter so if the record is also moving all you will have is chaos at the point of contact Another upside of having a platter is it's effect on speed regulation so again removing it makes life harder from an engineering perspective, especially with a belt drive table. The other problem is that any sales blurb that starts with the sentence "Modern urban lifestyle" obviously has a lot more to do with aesthetics that science and engineering. F.F.S. This ones almost as, if not more stupid and pointless than the vertical one.

  44. I really like that poster of the kitty cat that says, "hang in there." It's really uplifting; you have a bad day and you just look at that poster hanging over your air mattress and you think, "I will hang in there kitty, I will hang in there." I don't know if it's a VC exclusive poster, but I bought mine at the Stafford Elementary book fair and they didn't ask what forums I'm part of, so I'm sure any of you guys could probably go get one too.
