  1. Good, I still have a few hours to deliberately not buy these horrible looking shirts. What is it about nerdy pop culture shit that makes people buy terrible shirts?

    Video Game OSTs v2.0

Looks like you can preorder the No Man's Sky 2LP from Amazon for $12: https://www.amazon.com/No-Mans-Sky-Infinite-Universe/dp/B01ISVRN2A/ Guessing it's a pricing error and will be fixed soon, but Amazon usually honors these (unless you buy more than one). EDIT: Looks like it's back at $35 now.

  4. Good thing it sounds FUCKING AWESOME. God damn I love this album so much. So glad to finally have it on wax. No pops, skips, or cracks on my end. Everything is really warm, and raw. The disc is thin, the packaging is light, but damn the sound is all there. You guys are gonna be happy.

I figured I'd move everything up here for quicker access. Also, it looks like there are two different pressing amounts for the Splatter variant. US claims 500, while EU states there are 300.

  7. SIASL is a weekly podcast I do with my brother, which was initially to chronicle my transition from New Yorker to North Carolinian, and is now just me and him shooting the shit. However, we've recently started to have guests on. Past guests include From Autumn To Ashes/The Wanted/Rita Ora/Jim Breuer guitarist Brian Deneeve, and UFC's The Ultimate Fighter (season 2) finalist Luke Cummo. SIASL on iTunes [Archive of past episodes here] ------------------- This week's guest is Balloon Boy himself, Mr. Falcon Heene! I remember him flying away in a weather balloon and a bunch of old ladies crying about it, then the kid coming down from his attic and blowing up his dad's publicity stunt on national TV later that day. Well, it turns out he has a band with his brothers, does YouTube videos and is still reachin' for that golden ring. So, I had him on episode 32! We discuss the infamous Balloon Boy Hoax, how he feels about the title now, life in Florida, The Heene Boyz' beef with Unlocking The Truth, their love of Trump, plus an update on their touring plans and new material! Stream/DL episode on Podbean ------------------- Next week's guest will be Dan from Incendiary! Thanks for checking it out!

  8. I probably sank a little more time than I should have into this effort, but I wanted to showcase my Chelsea Wolfe collection and plead that you guys chip in and help me fill in the last three pieces that I need to complete the set! A few nerdy notes: The two Pendu presses of Apokalypsis can be told apart by the barcode on the back as well as the center labels. The "barcode pressing" has slightly more yellowed center labels than the first press without the barcode. Recently, Abyss was repressed on clear and transparent blue vinyl. These are actually entirely new pressings with new plates, jackets, etc. The first four pressings are on reverse board jackets and have a note that says "C & P 2015 Sargent House" underneath the barcode, but the new pressings are just regular matte jackets without the C & P notice. Also, the matrix and runouts are different. If I had to guess, the first four pressings seem to be from Pirate's Press while the newer two look like they were pressed at either Raino or Erika. I got lucky and won the test for Pain Is Beauty on eBay...haven't seen any other tests of her stuff come up before or after that moment. Sargent House and Pendu must've kept those very much in house.

  10. My Becks showed up today. Currently on the second track of Odelay and I think it sounds great through headphones, and I cleaned it first. Haven't gotten to MG yet. Odelay is #0072/2016 which is pretty cool, Mellow Gold was #743.

  12. Sad Heart

    SLC Punk Sequel?

The movie ironically needed more punk, and a lot more drugs. I think one of the reasons it really didn't hit home for me is cause the punk era of now vs. then is completely different. SLC Punk was a great gateway of punk music for me when I was 11. So I guess I just hold it in even higher regard, while SLC Punk 2 didn't teach me shit. Haha.

  14. Definitely know what you mean, I probably wouldn't have bitten if I weren't already considering ordering the new Angel Olsen LP. It sounds like they'll be reaching back to previous releases from the Secretly Canadian, Jagjaguwar and Dead Oceans roster (Bon Iver, Women, War On Drugs all come to mind) so I'm excited to see what they announce for that. There should be an official announcement Monday so maybe they'll shed more light on pressing #s then.

  15. Just a heads up, Secretly Canadian are launching a new subscription series and will have an exclusive pressing of this LP on "taupe" vinyl. I'm unsure of pressing numbers but was told the Secretly Society pressing would be the most limited: https://www.secretlystore.com/preoccupations-preoccupations I signed up for the 3 month subscription, it comes out to $20 (shipped!) per LP and the first record they're issuing will be Angel Olsen's new album which is also fantastic.

  16. Or the Sinoia Caves solo CD (no other format) from several years back. Great stuff. He's they keyboardist for Black Mountain as well. Rest easy. There will be a vinyl release.

  17. Nope, no actual confirmation from Lakeshore that they'll press it. I would just be completely shocked if they didn't - if the show wasn't so insanely popular and if Survive's vinyl catalogue wasn't being sold out everywhere maybe I'd think it's 50/50.

  21. Just to be on the same page here, liking suicide squad is like liking nickleback. There are lots of people that do, but they usually don't admit it in public.

  22. Just now seeing this but damn. So tempting, but the remastered aspect doesn't necessarily help as their other albums already sound good on vinyl. And I own all of these. It's the colored variants which I always thought would be cool with bright eyes but I wish letting off the happiness and noise floor were included rather than cassadaga and the people's key /my bright eyes box set rant

  23. There are certain reasons why the black variant has the potential to sound better than a splatter such as the inserted specks of color not being smashed down in the pressing of the LP which some have reported. I've not necessarily noticed that any of my splatter records are more prone to playback distortions over any black copies. For me, I like "generic" black because I quite plainly prefer the way a solid black record looks way over any of the colored variants. The blacker and shinier, the better. Most variants just look like cheap, gimmicky impersonations of a record. Black looks classic AND classy to me. I like the idea of my modern vinyl LP's with modern music on them having the look/texture of vintage records which were USUALLY all black. I never really came across crazily colored variants until I started building my own collection from scratch. My parent's records and all the classic presses of major albums in classic rock were mostly all black (yes, I know there are exceptions to that). I find it far more aesthetically pleasing to hold and watch the spin of a black record over any other color or color combination. Black is just fucking correct in my mind. I love it. There's just something about it. And frankly all the bickering over mockups and expectations for color combinations and "I ordered the bruise purple with electric yellow fart swirl and they sent me the red porcupine with H-colored dick shapes variant" bullshit just annoys the crap out of me so much that to avoid the whole tainted mess, I stick with black. The coolest color variant I have is probably the Young Widows Old Wounds amber with black skull shapes LP but that's enough for me.

  24. What movie did you guys see? That was one of the worst "comic book" movies I've ever seen. The "villians" were laughable and looked awful. The joker was the worst joker I've ever seen on screen. This movie never looked good, and it wasn't. I think it's really sad that DC fans keep convincing themselves they like this shit simply because they like the characters (even though they were butchered) and because it's simply not marvel. I'm honestly surprised the rotten tomatoes score isn't lower. I read a couple of the "positive" reviews and couldn't find one that didn't think the movie was awful. I'm not sure why they're considered positive. I can say that both Justice League and especially Wonder Woman look like huge improvements for DC. Hopefully they got their shit together.

  26. Sound quality is first and foremost, I have many swirls and splatters that sound terrible. I'm well aware that color alone isn't to blame for many quality issues (I have enough black records that sound like crap too), but it is a factor. Beyond any discussion of sound quality, I actually prefer the aesthetics of black vinyl. I don't find black to be "generic" and the variants "cooler" - Most of the time those swirls and splatters look terrible. Just give me a nice clean black copy.

  27. I hate when they let charities set up in the Dunkin Donuts drive thru. I'm just trying to get some coffee, I don't want to have to feel guilty. Getting DD makes my inner coffee snob guilty enough. Today it was some police related organization so I just said "Black lives matter" as they started to say something. They shut up and backed away.

  30. We found a scared and hungry cat and he followed us home. He's so friendly and has just been hanging out with us on the porch. It's definitely an indoor cat so we are going to try to find his owners. But if we can't there's no way we are taking it to a shelter...so might have three cats now...

  31. damn, Dave. That's a badass story! The first time I saw maylene was when they co-headlined the scream the prayer tour (back when Dallas decided to have a baby face for awhile haha). To sum it up, people were having a good ol hootenanny that night. Right after that set I went and saw lightning bolt play a killer set two blocks over.

  37. We fill the tub with water, add detergent, add the laundry, agitate the clothes for a few minutes to make sure everything is wet and the soap mixes, let it sit for a half hour, drain the tub, then rinse/ring out everything one by one and put them in small loads into our little spin dryer for a few minutes. Then we hang everything out to dry fully. The spin dryer works surprisingly well. It's a small little RD2D looking thing. Just spins, no heat. It's all really easy and the whole thing takes maybe an hour. We also have an old school washing board for if something is like DIRTY dirty. It's slightly more physically involved than just throwing laundry in a washing machine and then a dryer, but it's actually faster. Especially beats having to sit in a laundromat for hours.
