  5. It's superb, and the price point isn't awful considering it's half speed mastered at abbey road. A single lp mofi runs $35, I look at it for $5 more you get the outtakes lp, extensive linear notes and all the packaging is reproduced except double gatefold and 2 blood sleeves this time, as well as 2 polylined inners. I'm really happy with my purchase

Hey Marc, welcome! Love Maine (especially Portland - likely my favorite city in the world). A bit of advice. For anything pertaining to sound quality especially releases from the 90s and older, the Steve Hoffman forums is the best reference anywhere on the internet. I would say for classic rock/pop discussion there is likely no better place to go. Also I would argue a large group of the people at the Hoffman forums are true audiophiles in the true sense of the term (likely due to the demographics having the experience in this area and budget to afford more expensive equipment). The VC forums (not to be confused with the VC Facebook/YouTube community which is something entirely different) is "generally" focused on releases from the 90s to current day, especially those in specific genres like indie, punk, emo, ambient, shoe gaze, etc, etc. Also colour and limited pressings appeal more here then over there.

  7. Welcome to VC. Always happy to greet a fellow enthusiast. Please remember to have a thick skin as the inevitable responses roll in. You'll find this forum more useful for newer artists and releases, but there are definitely some folks that can converse about the classic rock with you. This forum leans heavily toward punk and rock so you may not have any interest in the majority of threads that pop up, but if you have an open mind to new music, you may discover some artists you like. Good luck and have fun.

I've heard nothing but great things about this. It's my 4 year olds favorite album and will probably be my next purchase.

  14. First LP is a new stereo mastering of the original. It sounds superb, a really really solid job - well worth having on the shelf. The second is the same tracks but different takes of them, apparently previously unheard. I believe there is chat on there too about how to make the song sound etc - looking forward to spinning it...might stick it on now. Well worth the purchase I'd say - one of the all time great albums.

  15. Also should mention, both these LP versions are running low already, might run out in the next week for sure, so don't sleep! Going to repress very soon...

Good package. Good mix. Good quality vinyl/pressing. No need to critique the songs. There are awesome threads going on Hoffman forums, likely better time investment over there.

  20. This week my "Fuck Donald Trump" sticker has gotten the most attention since the week of the primaries when I got a "HES THE ONLY ONE WHO WILL STOP MUSLIMS FROM CUTTING PFF THE HEADS OF CHRISTIAN CHILDREN!" and a car full of elderly folks hooting and hollering giving me the thumbs up. Dude at the mall aggressively tried to sell me some weed after being like "Fuck yeah! Fuck that piece of shit!" I politely declined (as I generally buy much more than a 20 bag and not from a random ass dude). But it was further proof to what I always tell people: if you can't find weed, ask literally anyone who works back of house at a restaurant. Because he was definitely a line cook.

  23. I have yet to receive a shipping notification, but a lot of these turned out really well, especially the retail variant. Did you guys see that Halsey bought out all the cds for this album at target and was giving them out to random fans?

  24. See I thought Strange Desire kinda died down in the second half, and I feel the same about this one. Perhaps it's more of a grower, but it feels a bit uneven after a couple of listens. But I Miss Those Days and Don't Take The Money alone are good enough to warrant a purchase.

  25. I really just love everything Jack does (for himself and over artists/bands). The album is different but I love it and the stories that it tells. After meeting Jack the other night I can't help but like everything he does even more because of how sweet he is as a person.

  26. was at my local shop today and they had this on the speakers. it's about the only time I have ever asked "hey, what are you guys playing?" I was pleasantly surprised. going to listen to this all day tomorrow and probably pick up the LP because I am weak

  27. I remember why I don't get on VC much anymore. "Have a different opinion than someone?! Well fuck you then!" If someone thinks an ETR release sounds good and someone else doesn't then all we've concluded is really nothing. All of my Harvard albums sound great.

  28. I've been in touch with Ross on this one and he said the band is on board and they are all getting compensated for this release. Even Tyson's family is receiving a check. A few members of the band posted about the release and seem to be pretty excited about it. We can all have our own opinions about Ross and the label but let's try and get our facts straight before we start assuming something.

  29. So which of my turntables isn't real? The Pro-ject of the Bang & Olufsen? I have plenty of ETR records that sound just fine.

  30. Am I the only one who thinks the funniest thing about this label is his sense of design? Look at that font. LOOK AT THE FONT. Also, "$23.99 Each". Sorry, is this an informercial? Will I get a discount if I order in the next 5 minutes? No, I won't. But I will if I go to Hot Topic in 6 months.

  35. Just read through this entire thread and I am blown away. I really respect teachers like you and I'm certain all these kids appreciate everything you're doing for them. They might not realize it now but they will - I'm sure of it. Plus, Explosions in the Sky are phenomenal and it's always nice to get kids listening to some more "alternative" music once in awhile. I remember in high school I had an English teacher who used to encourage us to read books like A Clockwork Orange (even though the school's principal was seriously against it) and watch films like the Seventh Seal and Les 400 Coups. It really helped me start enjoying school, and I was always very excited to write and talk about whatever we were reading/watching that week. Some times she would let us bring in music to play for the class so we could have a discussion about it. No other teachers would allow students to express any sort of creativity or interest in the arts. Two years later at graduation, that same teacher handed me the English award and an envelope with a letter. In the letter, she thanked me for "bringing an eclectic taste to the classroom this year" and gave me a gift card to a local book store. I'll never forget it. Anyway, all that rant to say, thanks for what you do lexicondevil. Also, I'm interested in grabbing a book if you have any left. Would you send one to Canada?
