Thanks y'all. He's past the worst of it, but he's gonna be recovering for another couple months. We're using this time to get caught up movies we've been putting off; last night we watched "Trick 'r' Treat" and "Creepshow" (he had not seen either). Tomorrow hopefully "From Beyond" and "Re-Animator" (he hasn't seen either and I haven't seen beyond).

Buy a gift for the person you get spending no less than $20 and no more than ????. There isn't a cap for gifts and people often go overboard which of course you're welcome to do but isn't required. These gifts can be vinyl, music related or just rad things you think they’ll like. It can be a few small things or one big thing, whatever. Don't send anything gross or crude (NO PORN, unless you know the person loves porn). If you don't know what your person likes, look up some of their posts and use what you've learned about them from this board as a guide. If you have questions ask around, or we'll ask for you. If you want to participate, you probably need to have a trade list; post the link in your signature so that your Secret Santa can get ideas of what to buy and what not to buy for you. Pack up and send out your gift no later than November 25th. Unless you specify that you’ll agree to send packages to other countries, we’ll try to keep people to mailing within their own country, as easy cheap delivery confirmations don’t work for the USPS’s international Mail…but there are more deluxe forms of tracking, but all of them raise the price considerably for international mail. Pick the type of shipping most appropriate or affordable(in the US please remember media mail can ONLY be used for audio recorded material, books, video recordings on whatever format, ie: this is media, breaking this rule could cause your box, should it be inspected to be deemed mail fraud and not delivered, and if you’re lucky returned to sender, but most likely will be thrown away!). This is assuming that all people outside the US will use their countries equivalent delivery confirmation tracking information. • And this is very important: ALL PACKAGES ARE TO BE SENT WITH SOME SORT OF CONFIRMATION OR TRACKING. NO EXCUSES. Send the tracking information to your Secret Santa Moderator once your package has been sent (that means you fuckers that don't follow rules), so we have a idea of who is sending what and when, also save your receipts just in case!!!! Everyone please use my address as the return address. Please be sure to put VC Secret Santa, ATT: Lauren DeLuca, 239 Troutman St. Apt. 2R, Brooklyn, NY 11237. 5. This year is same as last year. This year please include 1 or several (you choose) cd mixes with music you think said person might like. Hell send them music they might not have even heard. You never know. they might be turned on to something totally new they never even thought of listening to. Also include with the gift a piece of paper with three hints about who you are. It can be anything you want, your hometown, your favorite band, something anyone familiar with the board could figure out. Or, be vague…this is part of the fun! 6. When you receive your gift: • post what you got in this the main thread and guess who sent it to you. • PM your Secret Santa Moderator that you received your gift so we can mark you off our list. It takes a minute. This is a must. I don't want to have to be PMing people daily to see if they received their gifts. Once its been noted, please, please say THANK YOU. There's nothing more thoughtless than not at least giving a “thank you.” It's rude to say the least! 7. If you don't receive your gift by December 17th, PM your moderator (me) AND post in the main thread (do not create a new thread). We'll find a way to punish that person. If it arrives after that, we'll forgive them. 8. If you don't like what you got, feel free to swap with someone else, re-gift or sell the item in secret. Please don't complain even if you didnt like the gift. it's the thought that counts. right? 9. On Jan. 1 (or shortly thereafter) we will reveal who everyone's Secret Santa was. 10. All new Boardies. Rather than completely disqualify you from participating, we need you to go through a few extra hoops in order to participate. All new board members (aka if you have less than 1000 posts, less than a year old, or have never participated in Secret Santa) are required, after all initial info is entered, to send first. and have a shipping date a little over a week shorter (NOV 11) than regular members. This is for good reason. We ask this so there's a less likely chance of anyone getting ripped off. Secondly, we ask this so your package arrives in a timely manner because once your package as been confirmed upon arrival (again, please send with confirm so we can track it) by your recipient, we will then allow your Secret Santa to send your gift. My copy showed up on Monday. Happy to say it is not warped at all. Came with a bonus poster too! Although I am thoroughly burnt out on this record, it does sound quite nice on vinyl and am happy to finally own it physically.

Yeah...it's an amazing album, but it also costs $10-12 for brand new black copies. Couldn't see paying double the price for a blue copy.

I think we may be the only ones keeping up with NJPW. KOPW was awesome. I haven’t seen the Chicago date of Global Wars yet but I went to the show the night before in Columbus and had a great time. I can’t remember a time I marked out as hard as I did for almost that entire show.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of 'Star Wars', Walt Disney Records has reissued in a luxurious limited edition triple vinyl set of the music from the movie Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope composed by John Williams. LP 1 and 2 contain the original soundtrack of the film as it was published in 1997. LP 3 is a vinyl with a hologram (of the star?) that appears when the disc is played. This box is accompanied by a magnificent booklet of 48 pages with photos of the recording sessions and scenes of the film.

they said on a FB post that it was the jackets only. i think the on-the-disc photos were for marketing only. If you look close, you'll see all those jackets in the pics are signed.

So I planned on taking a friend who just had open heart surgery (at 27 years old, ugh) to see 2049 yesterday, didn't end up happening so I STILL have not seen it. I have the last pressing on red and it is.... oh so nice. Highly recommend.

I just moved here and saw a show there tonight. It's pretty tiny, holds maybe 200-250 people, so I'd anticipate it would sell out given Converge's popularity. Can't speak from long-term experience since I haven't been here long enough to see if shows regularly sell out, but like I said, Converge are pretty well-known as far as the scene goes. Definitely a risk.

I'm definitely going to, was going to wait until we actually got our SS though...

Has the BF RSD ever been unbelievably good? Why are people so surprised there are so few things of interest. For me there are usually 1-2 things that I want. This doesn’t seem any different to me.

So this is fucking cool: Metavari - Whichhunt ft Daniel Weyandt of Zao Stick around to the end of the video to see that there will be an exclusive Mondo variant Can't say I ever expected to see Dan on something like this, but given his interests it makes a lot of sense. And it turned out amazing. Definitely going to pick this up.

Home and Animosity

Okay, first of all, I finally got my records! Yee-ah. Only took about a week once I finally got a hold of Matt (who rules). That said, I did exactly the same as you, Joshua, and had similar problems. There's a small scratch/mark on side A of my "Orc-skeined Water" copy, but as with yours, it doesn't seem to affect play. In fact, it plays quite well, with very few clicks or pops and a reasonably low level of surface noise. I was prepared for worse, given the tricky pressing. The other two seem fine. Poisonous Bloom was coated in nasty grit, but I'd heard in advance that might be the case and was super careful in removing the disks from the sleeves. Gave them a thorough cleaning, dusted out the sleeves, and it's good to go. Gilden Axehead has no obvious problems. With those three, I also ordered two copies of King Gizzard's Mind Fuzz on clear w/ black smoke. Unsurprisingly, I only received one. Kind of a bummer, but Matt refunded the item price and most of the shipping charge for my whole order within a few hours of my writing Castle Face about it, so I've got no complaints. I suspect everyone over there is pretty consistently relaxed, if you know what I mean... I don't think they'll replace the colored vinyl versions in kind. They explicitly said up front that they couldn't, that they could only promise to exchange lost or damaged colored vinyl for black. If you want to exchange more than one and don't want multiple black vinyl copies, I suspect they'll offer a partial refund. I doubt that your copies are much worse than most others out there, though. And even if you did get colored vinyl replacements, they'd probably be similar. If I were you, I'd keep and/or sell what you have.

Yeah, buying vinyl OSTs these days typically feels like being in an overpriced gift shop at a theme park.

Not sure about the dimensions, but I love a good bit of repurposed upcycling. 9/10.
