This album is perfect! And once again, cover songs chosen are awesome. So far, See The Light and Witch Image are my favorites.

Picked up the cloudy blue variant at their show tonight for $25 Was a great show. I only know this album and a few other songs but I knew at least half of the set. A little upset they didn't perform backwash but that's OK since they performed for about an hour and twenty minutes. Probably the calmest show I've ever been to aside from the couple in front of me tongue fucking each other.

It's been awhile since I played it, but IIRC, it's not acoustic. A few tracks are that are supposed to be (LMR, You Are The Everything, etc) but the rest is electric. It's by far the best looking picture disc REM bootleg (bright and colorful, but the design is a bit wonky) and actually sounds half decent for a picture disc. There's silence between the tracks though and has a "you're in the room" sound as if you're at the 40 Watt or something (no idea where this was recorded) with a hundred other people. BUT the sound is clear and bright and not muffled at all. Worth the purchase!

So...when Discogs started the slow process of killing off bootleg sales, I had a list made up of wants that I went through to finish off in a hurry knowing full well that it was going to be a bitch to get them by other means. The Drive pic disc was the last of my wants and they killed boots off before I could snag it! I eventually stumbled across one on ebay, which was odd, because I'd never seen one listed (and haven't since) and I check REM items on ebay constantly. And for fun, I thought I'd post this little gem as well. Another item I've not seen anywhere and can't find any information on either. An unplayable (it has no grooves) promo pic disc for Murmur.

Damn. I got 44 of the ones pictured and would have some of the rest but early on I decided not to buy bootlegs that feature the same show or recordings in a different package. My white whale is the Drive picture disc with live acoustic recordings.

That may have been me. I have (I think?) pretty much every REM bootleg on vinyl that I'm aware of. I have a few others since I took this pic and a few bootleg 7"s as well. The only thing I'm itching to get my hands on is the Finest Lunchbox and I can't seem to find a complete set in decent shape and I've been looking for years.

Yeah most people just like to complain about missing out on variants and post that they got shipping notices around these parts.

It's the horror score sister label of Graveface and if you know Ryan's reputation, the dude is a nut for details and quality. The packaging and presentation is always top notch and he goes through hours and hours and hours of mastering, working with the composer and sourcing from the original tapes. If you're into that sort of music, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better label when it comes to the attention to detail and work put into it. Unlike Deathwaltz, Mondo, etc you likely won't find them releasing major motion picture scores, but that doesn't mean you won't find artists that have also contributed to major films. I subscribed because I'm a Graveface nut, but I realized that I likely won't listen to them because it's not my niche. I'd recommend visiting their bandcamp and site and checking it out. They have subscription offers where you get unique pressings, first dibs at random stuff and packages and I think each subscription is guaranteed one test pressing. I hope you check it out and enjoy it and if you ever feel like it, hit up my discogs store to pick up some OOP titles.

I’m pretty stoked about this. I’ve really come to love this band over the years. Their earlier stuff wasn’t really my taste, but since Forever Halloween, I’ve been hooked. Still regret passing up FH on vinyl in their web store years ago.

That variant is a beauty. This has ended up one of my favorite releases this year so far couldn't be happier.

Your collection just doesn't really have anything to do with the new album and comes off as attention seeking. If people want to talk about the band/the new album, great. I don't care about seeing a bunch of pictures of people's records. I've seen the variants before and nobody cares that you've wasted that much money collecting all of them. There's a whole thread for posting pictures of collections.

When I see that sort of thing part of me just wants to be happy that they're happy and enjoying themselves. But I also want them to know the pain of collecting a band like End of a Year/Self Defense Family.
