  1. Its seems there is an new Sumac LP, already available at Thril Jockey : https://thrilljockey.com/products/love-in-shadow SUMAC, the trio of Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom), Nick Yachyshyn (Baptists), and Brian Cook (Russian Circles), are always searching for a new approaches and challenges. Love In Shadow is a brutalizing dive into love and all its raw emotions. Turner’s nimble songwriting combusted with the road-honed intuition and technical prowess of his bandmates results in a sound that is at once complex and primal. Riffs lurch into psychotropic scrapes, drum fills are distended and mangled, and Turner’s voice carries the weight of a strife that is colossal in both volume and austerity. Recorded live in a single room at Robert Lang Studios in Washington by Kurt Ballou (Converge), who later mixed the album at his own studio God City, Love In Shadow ushers in a more improvisational songwriting approach for SUMAC - a sea change galvanized by their collaboration with Keiji Haino. Finding comfort in the negative spaces within each track’s borderland was the trio’s primary goal in writing the four massive tracks comprising Love In Shadow. On the album's emotional motif, guitarist/vocalist Aaron Turner says: “Since many of the surface level aspects of our being are often used as divisive tools to separate/alienate us from one another, the intent here is reveal that at our base level all humans desire and need to be loved and accepted for who they are, for just being.” 2xLP pressed on virgin vinyl, packaged in a wide spine jacket printed on uncoated stock with custom high gloss slipcase and free download card. Limited quantities of vinyl pressed on clear vinyl with pink and black high melt.

  13. I ordered 'Of Great Eternity' 'To Embrace' and 'Dethroned' the day they were put up, before everything else was announced. After no issues with my Leviathan 'First Sublevel' LP order, I had already preordered Leviathan's "Unfailing Fall.." and felt fine with my orders. Then the preorders just kept coming: variants, deluxe this / deluxe that. THEN the shipping dates updated in Bandcamp from September to December - which would fall after the 6-month protected Paypal Window. And THEN the "We found 38 deadstock copies of the OG Sombre 'Distant' pressing so we're hooking you all up" but in reality they were bootlegs, they are discovered so they change their tune to "Who cares who pressed it, I can't get a first press and this version is pretty nice considering." I don't need JI reissues bad enough to deal with this rigmarole from this company. They can all stay as elusive $200-600 first presses on Discogs, we don't need "Andrew gave me permission 10 years ago" garbage reissues.

  14. I actually think their cover of Rosanna is better than this.

  15. Yeah it should be $5. It was earlier. Weird snag in the system most likely.

  19. I think he's saying that there are already actually 23 other non-black variants of this album, most of which look better than this and cost less. Not sure than can be said for every Newbury exclusive color repress.

  27. Wow almost wanted to turn off that song at several places. He has such a good voice and burying it under the chant of "Gold Rush" is just bad. I'd have to wait on this one.

  34. They can keep reissuing all of these Chop records and I'll happily purchase every last one. Oh(Ohio) is the record that got me into them. The Live at XX Merge release is a top 3 live record of the last 15 years IMO.

  36. that first Film School single "Crushing" blew me away. Stoked to hear the full record soon! Also, a few pages back I posted my band's new video single. Well, now the whole 4-track EP is out and one of Germany's most important music magazines, VISIONS, has picked it as their "demo of the month" in the current print issue. So, as apparently it isn't utter shit, I thought you folks might be interested in checking it out as well. Fun Fact: We were even featured in the same DKFM episode as Film School where I learned about their single! I still for the heck of me can't figure out how to embed the BC player here. I'll try and if it fails, I'll just leave the link here in hopes that someone clicks on it! Shun - Nothing Quite As Heavy on bandcamp

  40. Anyone into the Chillhop Essentials seasonal album series? I just recently, within the last month or so, discovered these collections and not only are they fantastic compilations, they're also a great source for me to discover new lofi/triphop artists. I put in a PO for the Spring 2018 vinyl. Been looking at getting back catalog vinyl but have only been able to secure Fall 2017 so far. Anything before that is pretty high up there in market value and I'm just not in a position to unload a bunch of money on it.

Good news: I received my copy today. Bad news: it looked like this: The cover was completely shattered as well. Devastated.
