Anxiously awaiting the next Deafheaven video in which they all cheekily ride their jetskis around, causing their fans to wonder whether they're being serious or not.

You guys do realize that this is basically Sunbather 2.0, right? Just instead of slow strums, tablesaws, and faux drug deal dialogue as interludes, we’re getting spoken poetry over Queen guitars, Slowdive worship, and a synthy Chelsea Wolfe / George duet. Barring opinions, man..., I don’t see how you could enjoy Sunbather but find OCHL’s main tracks to be “meh”.

First shit-in-the-cereal type post, finally. Oh well, can't please them all. The truth is this record is not a huge departure for Deafheaven. It's prettier and more ethereal but it still sticks to the same shit they've been doing for a while with a less aggressive tone. I can see how someone who loved New Bermuda or Roads to Judah may be turned off but the underbelly of the band is still the same.

Also some Seven Mary Three!

Not sure if it will ever happen but all 3 of the Days Of The New albums I would snag in a heartbeat. Also the entire Nonpoint or Sevendust catelogue

I concur. It’s definitely a “nicer sounding” album, and a logical step forward for the band. But I don’t really dig it. I love he aggressive, intense stuff from sunbather and new Bermuda, this seemed too boring to me on first listen. Still like his vocal, but the music wasn’t doing it too much for me. Definitely did not like the opening track, honeycomb is rad, but the rest is just meh to me

Download cards add an unnecessary level of complication and stress to reselling limited edition vinyl. Whenever a customer emails me to complain that their download card expired or wasn't included with their $150 record, I send them this boilerplate response:

You ask who does something inconvenient and dated on a record forum? Serious answer though would be people who may be spending time in places where there is no reception/wifi regularly. I download stuff all the time. Guess I'm just an old man who won't get with the times.

The fact that they promoted the original as "this will never be repressed" is probably grounds for a false advertising legal claim. I would imagine that they're keeping it quiet for a reason.

Who still downloads shit? Spotify? Youtube? etc etc.... Seems like almost all download codes are going away, in this day and age where there is a 100 different places to easily listen to a 20 year old record.

liked this band forever, this is the least interesting thing they have released in my opinion... glad i didn't pre-order... hopefully I like the next one more.
