  1. Why guilty pleasures? They're stellar albums, especially Parachutes.

  2. My alter ego is likely responsible for the deep shame you're feeling. But fear not, for I too am gay for Parachutes and Rush Of Blood.

  3. Parachutes, front to back, is excellent, the other two less so but I enjoy songs off of each. I don't know, they have a bit of a negative connotation and they really fell off later in their careers. Something being a guilty pleasure doesn't make it bad, I just probably wouldn't admit to most people that I enjoy Coldplay. Probably my own hang up more than anything else.

  5. But just like a poster saying "raped my wallet" or whatever, these guys got called out. It's just that they are now being called out again long after they apologized and changed. They didn't dig their heels in and lash out. They listened, took it to heart, and stopped doing that shit. The comparison doesn't work.

  6. I put X&Y as the lowest of the first four albums because I think it has some filler on it while the other three really don't

  7. I dont recall seeing any information regarding this, but I randomly checked Erased Tapes and they now have non box-set black copies of 1+1=X for 30 pounds. Going to see if my local shop can snag me one. Also new Michael Price! https://www.erasedtapes.com/release/eratp112-michael-price-tender-symmetry

  12. Heads up to anyone who appreciates these guys' early work, Barnes & Noble has a limited white pressing online and in stores. Parlophone pressing and it sounds fantastic (listening as I type this). 2 years ago they did Parachutes on orange, it's now $150+ on the secondhand market, I'm glad I grabbed it when I did so grab this one before it's gone and on ebay. The store by me only had 1 in stock. https://m.barnesandnoble.com/w/rush-of-blood-to-the-head-coldplay/6587669?ean=0190295649852 Update: I have actually now tried two copies of this to verify it's a pressing defect, and indeed, both have a loud scratch sound in the left channel at the beginning of Daylight, and two on Warning Sign as well, one at the beginning and one towards the end. Overall the sound is very very nice, but there are those small defects. At the time of writing this post I was still on side A which has no problems. I'm still keeping one, but if anyone wants the 2nd, PM me and I'll sell to you at cost ($22 + $4 for media mail shipping). If I bring it back to the store I'm not sure what they do with it. It's still worth someone having and playing it for sure.

  13. Hello, This is a waste of everyone's time, but I'd just like to express a desire to purchase absolutely everything I didn't act on/didn't have the money for at their pre-boom prices. All the poor sad records that have $200+ markups and are on ebay being displayed with the grooves smashed onto someone's gross carpet or grease-filthy kitchen stove. I don't want to flip them. I don't want to use them as credibility badges, because the few people I talk to are already steeped in the storied history of how desperately I want to feel like I belong to a special era of music. I just want to hoard them lovingly in my collection and play them as tickets to a place out of my existence. I want to admire their lovely variations and hues and blare them. That is all. So yeah, sell me a You Fail Me with a screenprinted cover for $30. Drop me a green BDM ritual for $15ppd. Thanks and yabba dabba doo.

  16. If you ordered the black vinyl from Bullmoose like 2 weeks ago (like I did), a quick Twitter DM to them and they'll change it to the loser version.

  17. It's just kinda weird to be mad about someone calling that out like a week later. I think it just shows a certain level of stupidity that's easily exploitable for the lulz when people use those terms like rape that way. Pretty easy to see that theory in action when I called him retarded too. So heroic.

  19. My point is "the mob" already reacted and it worked. Now years later a different mob is dredging it back up. They aren't offended, they are using this as a political tactic.

  22. Already filed a PayPal dispute. They didn't respond to any of my emails so screw it. That's what I get for trying to save $2 when I should've just got the record from Amoeba.

  25. Im with you on that. I think he is the type he has a hard time deciding what to get rid of so he just rips the band aid off and does it all at once. He really goes down the rabbit hole too (one collection he sold off had everyrhing Tom Waits including singles, bootlegs, etc.) like 80 pieces later he realized he didnt need that at all and sold all but his favorite waits record. I have never been a variant collector at all but im starting to feel i dont need every record from a band minus a very select few.

  31. I saw Casey (their old drummer) post about it on Instagram. Now I totally regret not seeing them play earlier this year when they opened up for The Darkness. They are ridiculously great energetic live band. I'm pretty sure the name factored into their lack of world domination but if people could looked past the name, they would have been so much bigger.

  34. Highly disagree, they’ve definitely quieted down over the years and a recurring theme is people yelling at them to go louder. I’ve always loved their live sound. Nicky gets drowned out but that’s not what I go for anyway. But maybe different venues different sounds.

  37. I stopped crate digging at thrift stores altogether. Just end up with dirty hands, sneezing, and spending money on beat up albums I'll probably never even listen to that are gonna take up precious shelf space. In fact, I've moved all my older second hand records into their own bastardized crate adjecent to my shelves. The island of misfit LPs, if you would.

  45. Just came to post my latest experience with SSD. Ordered the Petty Live Anthology when it was claimed to be warehouse find, cancelled when I found out everywhere had it and some with cheaper price....have been waiting almost a month for a refund. Emails unanswered, calls unreturned. Have a paypal case open that hasn't been replied to.
