My big box of like everything came today and holy shit, it has pretty much everything! (21) 12"s, (10) 7"s, (10) Tapes, (1) test press (Taking Meds - - I requested it but I didn't think she'd actually send it..., and 1 banner. Packed like a beast, everything arrived w/ the record outside of the jacket. Not a single piece is damaged. Well worth it!!

SRSQ (pronounced seer-skew) is the solo project of Kennedy Ashlyn (vocalist/keyboardist of Them Are Us Too). Creative voids aren’t filled, but rather holes left that push the edges of the present into new realms of consciousness. SRSQ’s pulse began after the death of Kennedy’s closest friend and TAUT collaborator Cash Askew, a casualty in the sudden and tragic Oakland Ghost Ship Fire of 2016. Driven by loss, SRSQ became the vehicle for Kennedy’s transformative process, exploring nuance, nostalgia, reflection, and reconciliation, manifesting in the aural landscape of Unreality. As a debut, Unreality is entrance into a new form of storytelling, traversing the present while pulling from a deep swath of experience, immersion, and sound. Like the impulse it pulls from, each song evokes the complex duality of meditation—where simple intersects with infinite. Ambient synthesizers that approach harshness, relentless arpeggiations act together with Kennedy’s vocals as a lush weapon, weaving cloudlike fables over orchestration that’s familiar and foreign. I look at thrift shops for musicals. I get loads of great broadway there. I found a copy of Kenny Roger's The Gambler once. I always look at the bins, but rarely find anything for myself. I do get nice stuff for my kiddo sometimes. Oh yeah, Christmas records too...when we put up the tree, we'll hit the local Catholic thrift shop and snatch up some Christmas records for the season too.

Oh well, at least I had some really good news editorials to watch on the TV last night.

Don passed along this recommendation to me & they might be the best new band I’ve listened to all year. Everything by them thus far is insanely good. This new album has shot to the top of my most anticipated currently. I snagged that CD as well hoping for that /25 lyric sheet. The first CD I’ve bought in years lol.

To be fair they did have "scarfaced size mountains of cocaine" and literal orgies in the recording studio. I miss the 90s.

If anyone is curious why this took so long, I suggest you do a search for Merchant Vinyl on FB and read what you find. The MV page has been conveniently deactivated, but there are some public posts that will shed some light on why it took forever.

You've gotta figure 9 is coming at some point, so you've at least go that going for you.

The label almost exclusively presses OSTs that are better than the really shitty movies they came from you just happen to recognize this one. It's very intentional to press something no one else would and quite interesting to see how good some of these soundtracks actually were. Most releases have never been pressed to vinyl and are mastered direct from the original tapes and a lot of attention is paid to the sound quality which is far from a trait shown from the bubble jumper labels. Unsolved Mysteries is a terrible show, but them synths don't lie.

I really want to add the triple LP version to my sub. Oddly started watching this again on Prime the other week and the music for this show is great haha.
