  2. lotus plaza is the best deerhunter associated project. spooky action is an all time great album. after getting into them i realized that basically all my favorite deerhunter songs were the ones lockett wrote.

  3. I agree completely that Deerhunter are one of the best bands of all time. I feel like them and Big Star are probably the best bands to ever come out of the south. I’m always surprised that this band isn’t more popular. I’m really looking forward to this. Anyone catch how limited this variant is?

  5. Seeing them on Saturday. So excite. This album is absolutely incredible, it gets better every time. I really think "Honeycomb" might be the best song they've ever written. I just can't get enough.

  6. The songs were way to pop foucsed for me. Deerhunter always had that element to them but also had these avant garde and interesting moments in the songs. That album had none of it Upon a few listens to this single, the first 2 mins of the songs are pretty starightforward but than around the 2:30 mark it gives me hope that these songs bring back some of those elements

  9. I think Lockett is very under appreciated. Sort of like Lee Renaldo in Sonic Youth. Lockett’s second solo album is better than some Deerhunter albums IMO

  10. Still waiting for the band to put up a webstore but nothing yet. I've messaged the band with no reply but I'm hoping to get a copy soon.

  11. Might be in the slight minority, but I like it and prefer it to some of the earlier remastered/remixed versions. It's raw and imperfect, and unless you're going for a HQ analog experience, it's as spooky and unsettling as watching an old VHS copy of the film. It's not a defect, it was intentional. The dips in sound throughout are a somewhat unfortunate effect, but livable nonetheless. I'm glad someone finally released it like this, it fits the movie and the idea of the film perfectly, in my opinion.

  12. It is not your table; literally every copy has the dropouts. And the orange will only be different from the splatter is they made a different master and cut new stampers for it which there is very little chance of having happened. It has nothing to do with the wax. All that said, these issues aren't insurmountable to me. I have a VS copy and the original Mondo 2xLP reissue (with the intentional dialog) from the expanded CD so this still offers me a different presentation of the score with new music in a new order and from a legitimately unique source. Under my own personal circumstances, I'm actually quite happy to have it even if I think they could have perfected it a bit more.

  13. Got the BSM Yellow/cherry cola. Great to see EU variants rather than having to pay big money for imports.

  14. my yellow version arrived today. Haven't listened to it on Spotify, so hearing it for the first time and it's just so goddamn funky. And it just sounds so good on vinyl. Lot's of depth

  17. The way to win this is to ultimately get some broader coverage of this rampant fraud. Again, it happens in small dollar amounts and is a con job only pulled by a few shady label owners, but if we stand up to these clowns, and make their artists and business partners aware of this practice, we can cut this stuff out. I ask again, what artists would want to be on a label like this? In an era when physical media sales are a coveted source of revenue, no artist would want to be associated with fraud and bullying like what Todd has done to some of us. It doesn’t just begin and end with artists. Distrubutors, stores, and sites like Bandcamp would also like to know about this stuff. It continues because none of us complain or make noise. We all just think, “Oh, it’s only $25. No big deal. It’s just the cost of doing business.” We excuse this bad behavior for thieves like Todd Ledford. Whether or or not this shit continues is up to us.

  18. So I wound up getting into a pretty long argument with Todd Ledford on Reddit today. He was as condescending and combative as ever, including mocking users who were asking *nicely* about the status of their orders that were placed in January of 2017. Not gonna lie, I went really hard against him. Definitely confronted that dude in a way that I typically reserve for only the worst trolls. He even went so far as to offer to explain how PayPal has kept him from filling orders in some case for as long as 22 months if I’d only pony $5,000 to wager. His only stipulation was that I provide proof of funds. I offered him $10,000 instead, complete with pics of my account balance. He of course shut down. If you want to watch that dude slowly die inside on this thread, I recommend checking out this link: That dude literally went months without answering emails and messages yet found the time to go on this thread today and troll the people he’s swindled. Im seriously starting to think maybe we should band together and try to press charges on this guy. He’s clearly committing fraud and he seems to relish in other people’s misery. How many of us are still waiting on our orders? I feel like if we could provide documentation as to the extent of this fraud, that we’d be able to make some headway in the courts. I’m willing to cover any legal expenses for the group, including hiring a lawyer if we need. At this point I don’t even care about the money this guy stole from me, or that he’s ignored my emails. I don’t even mind that he’s called me retarded when he has messaged me. I just want to see this righted. This guy’s a criminal, and the fact that he’s been defrauding people since at least January 2017 shows a pattern of behavior that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. This guy has no morals. He doesn’t even respond to public shaming. Legal proceedings are a final resort, but a reasonable one given the extent of his bad behavior. Furthermore, artists need to know how he treats fans. I wonder how many of them would want to sign to a label that is so sketchy and offensive. What’s everyone’s thoughts on trying to press charges? It’s true that we’re talking about many small transactions, but given that they involve credit cards, the internet, interstate commerce, etc. I’m sure it meets the threshold to be considered a felony. Even if if we could just get a total dollar amount stolen of a few thousand bucks, I think we can get this guy prosecuted. Anyone else with me on this? Edit: I feel the need to point out that he’s been nonfilling preorders from his label for the last two years or so at least. Based on comments I’ve seen here and on other sites, it’s entirely possible this guy has stolen tens of thousands of dollars since the winter of 2016/2017. It may seem small when any one of us gets taken for $30, but on the aggregate, this guy has made out like a bandit. To be clear: just because he’s stolen money in dribs and drabs doesn’t mean that this isn’t in actuality a pretty sizable fraud case.

  22. Birmingham's seminal post-punk/industrial behemoths GODFLESH performed their seminal debut full-length album, 1989's "Streetcleaner", in its entirety at the 2011 edition of the Roadburn festival on Thursday, April 14 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. In addition, founding members Justin Broadrick and Benny Green played the "Tiny Tears" EP, which was conceived as part of the overall "Streetcleaner" vision, in full as well. Decibel magazine: The debut full-length from industrial mastermind Godflesh is suffocating as a live recording. Rumbling bass, squealing guitars and strong vocals bring Streetcleaner to life in a different way than on the studio album, but it works to Godflesh’s benefit. The songs are more dissonant and, at times, cacophonous, a powerful incarnation of the record more than 20 years after its release. Mastered specially for cd and vinyl by James Plotkin. Edition of 100 copies: 500 on black, 300 on white and 200 on red vinyl. 3 copies of the test presses for this album will be added to random orders of the first week. https://www.burningworldrecords.com/products/godflesh-streetcleaner-live-at-roadburn-2011-cd

  26. Oof. Not for those prices. Especially with the relapse ones still available. They do look nice though. I'd have preferred some magenta somewhere on Ire Works if I were picking these up though. And death to splits. Sound floor is always fucked up on the splits I get... makes my pressing of maudlin of the Well's Leaving Your Body Map unlistenable and I have yet to find one that doesn't sound like ass.
