  1. This has to be emphasized. One man, who owns and operates his own analog recording studio in 2018, has retained the license to a major label flop of a record (not talking shit, they didn't do well on a mainstream level, pretty sure they never recouped on Astronaut) that he recorded 20 years ago, made a new analog mix, got it cut to lacquer and pressed to vinyl in what seems like a pretty huge quantity and is taking orders from a cult fanbase and is handling each and every order personally, on his own and the final product has been at least 3 years in the making. Now normally I would bitch at this price for this particular product but when you consider the scope of the undertaking and the lack of manpower, I can't really complain. Let's try not to lose perspective.

  2. Matt, my dude, please put more than 8 copies up at a time. Maybe just put them all up. I don't mind waiting a couple weeks for you to ship the damn thing. This one 30-second buying window once a week where the site can't handle everyone because there's only 8 copies thing is getting real old.

  5. I hit one of my local antique malls today. Wasn't looking for records cuz it's usually overpriced garbage with stickers taped to the jackets to add insult to injury. Imagine my surprise when I walked out with a pretty fucking decent 1st press of Scream Bloody Gore by Death for $15. Suck it!

  6. Thanks for the recommendation! I was able to pick up the rest of the 36 MOV releases there and the Carver City MOV release there for better prices than anywhere else i've seen!

  9. YPAA wasn’t released in conjunction with the band. SRC licensed it directly from the label and cut the band out of it. Seems like Matt did the licensing from the label this time instead of letting some other company steal money from him and his band mates.

  11. I was thinking about heading down to one of my golden unicorn antique mall sellers..... I'll let you know when I get a quality metal release at an antique mall. They're good for 60's to 80's for me. It would be nice to get something like that though...I don't even much care for Death and I'd probably have walked out with that...haha.

  12. Missed out on the first go but was able to nab one this time. Just a regular version. Print is nice but I'm still feeling the holiday financially. Maybe prints will go up at a later time but if not it's okay with me.

  13. Didn’t he sell Astronaut and Electra in like 5 waves of releases? Probably the best way for a one man operation to work, probably regretting doing this at all based on based on emails and messages he is probably getting

  16. Seriously. Come on guys, don't encourage that shit. Dude is a meme and no one will be listening to The Used in 2019. Happy holidays.

  17. Alright here we go! Craft Beer from Canadaland! Customs examined the Pumpkin ale and miraculously didn't throw it away, thank God cause it looks delicious. I'll probably try these at Christmas with my uncle. Love the aesthetic of this brewery though! A gang of CDs. O'Brother - Dissolution Argyle Park - Misguided Showbread - Anorexia Most Non-Heinous - Weird Science Of the 4, the only band I'm familiar with is O'Brother, and I've yet to check them out. I'm most interested in the Argyle Park as that's right up my alley according to your description. I'm definitely gonna check all of these out though, and thank you for the signed swag! Always a nice touch, and a speaking of signed. Big Black Delta - RCVR Of all the records you've sent, this is the only one I've had time to spin and I loved it! I'm actually not familiar with Debbie Gibson (I guess I'm too young) but the song was great! B-side was nice too. Toothgrinder - Nocturnal Masquerade I'm familiar with the band but I've never given them a listen. Excited to spin this once my schedule frees up from the Holiday madness. Birds In Row - Collected I've never heard of this band but I trust France when it comes to music. Again, I'll spin when the holidays end. Seriously @daegor, you went above and beyond! I'm flabbergasted by the generosity of your gifts, and I appreciate them all, thank you! Happy Holidays y'all!!!

  19. This is my first year participating in VC Secret Santa, so I think it's fitting that I am the first poster to share the awesome gifts they received. My gifts arrived in two installments over the last month. In November, I received two packages from Amazon and, this week, I received a third package (that was somehow postmarked both from Arizona AND Germany and required a weird international receipt signature!). My first gifts from November: Slowdive's self titled LP from 2017! I have slept on Slowdive for 20+ years despite being familiar with the name, so this was a great choice. That upbeat, well-paced shoe-gaze sound is right up my alley. Low's Double Negative LP from this year! This was one of my favorite records of 2018 but, the one time I went into Amoeba in LA to buy it, they were sold out and I never ended up grabbing a copy. Thanks to my Secret Santa for selecting this off my wishlist! Now, flash forward to this week's gifts: R.E.M.'s import picture disc single for Leaving New York (off Around the Sun), a Black Jesuses flexi, and CDs from Jeniferever and Thee More Shallows! Nomads' Free My Animal LP from 2014! Two mix CDs and a thoughtful, super nice handwritten letter! A huuuge yuletide thanks to my Secret Santa for crushing their gifts. I've participated in a few vinyl holiday exchanges and this was by far the best selection of stuff I've ever received. I'm excited to dig out my CD drive so I can spin those mixes and CDs and to play that Nomads LP! I have heard of almost none of these bands besides A Perfect Circle and Sigur Ros, which are on the mixes, so it will be a fun dive. I will definitely update this thread with my impressions of all the new music. My Santa did not identify themselves but I'm just gonna guess that it was swb. He seems to be a safe guess so far. Seriously. Awesome gifts! Thank you! Who else got dat Santa gift?
