  1. It sounds to me (and this is probably why people are reacting so strongly) like you're looking to get into the speculative vinyl market, and I've gotta say beyond the ick factor of straight-up asking which records will be out of print soonest, it's just not a great idea in general. Collecting "limited" records for their "value" is a big gamble, and unless you're already knowledgeable and immersed in the hobby, the odds are good that you'll end up stuck with a bunch of records you don't want that you'll eventually dump for a loss. If you want to make easy money flipping stuff, there are probably safer bets out there. Now, if you're asking because you just want to own something, anything, as long as it's limited: I would honestly just take a step back and ask whether possessing rare items will actually make you happy, or if you're just passively following messages you (and all of us! since birth!) are receiving from our western capitalist society that are telling you that consumption is the highest form of cultural participation. Maybe just think about what music connects with you, and seek out a copy of that music on a format that you think is cool. Some of my favorite and most treasured records are monetarily worthless, yet they bring me more joy than records worth $100+ that I bought to fill out a collection.

  2. Welcome to the boards... I see the welcoming committee has already greeted you! You've gotten these types of responses for a few reasons: 1. The community doesn't take too well to people that are into records because of their looks/rarity or just to put them on the wall in a frame. 2. There is already an UO thread where all new releases or questions can be asked... HERE'S THE LINK (people don't like duplicate threads as the board is already pretty cluttered) 3. There's a general disdain for UO here as they are for the most part just capitalizing on the record boom with no real effort My advice in your question... just buy what you would want and what you'd listen to. Records can be pretty, but if you don't like it you'll look at it in a year or two and think to yourself "that was a dumb purchase" (been there) Cheers

  3. I'm on board. To be fair, I think mods would have had to approve this thread. Juan has said he takes great joy in occasionally approving potential tire fires like this one.

  9. With the quantities they are going to produce they could be getting some pretty big discounts. He might only make a couple bucks a record but at half a million 100,000+ (?) orders that adds up real quick. Then again his stuff isn't even on Spotify so he obviously doesn't care about the money.

  14. Garth is gonna clog up the pressing plants with these box sets worse than RSD. Ha ah aha ha.

  15. I absolutely do not understand how this is possible. $50 for 7 lps. There are 2lp single album releases for that. Fucking crazy. Garth is fucking awesome.

  16. If only his dad was still in Montrose when they fired Sam Hagar! And truthfully he's a really nice guy. Beastmaker played Kreepy Tiki down here with Monolord. Place held 150 or so. It was bonkers. Bartenders had to keep pushing the glasses back against the wall cuz the bass had them heading to the edge.

  18. I liked them back in the day because they had harder to find CDs, shirts, and eventually were decent on their vinyl exclusives at first. They had pretty good customer service, and a decent platform to track and add to your orders. I preferred more sales over their rewards system, but they also allowed for user reviews for n00bs in the punk music game who had no idea what was going on. Now it seems that they're in over their heads with a bunch of shit and are making excuses making it seem like they're trying to do right when they're not. I e-mailed them about the 88 Fingers Louie record that they said they shipped but didn't. It's one thing to never get around to an order but to lie about shipping and say nothing? Nah...I'm done. Filed my first Paypal claim and won in a span of two weeks.

  20. Forgot to mention that I’d like AlexH’s post twice if I could. Nail on the head, really. Of course I do have some “gems” I’m grateful to own since their aftermarket value has become steep over the years, but I also think there are countless albums I value that have either sold for < $20 once or twice on Discogs, or just haven’t been sold at all. You really can’t lose when you’re buying music you’re stoked to own and enjoy. Having a valuable collection is cool and all, but if the “vinyl bubble” popped tomorrow, I would still be very pleased with everything on my shelf and what it means to me. And to add some legitimate advice to this thread: if you’re sincere about getting into vinyl and nabbing rarer releases or variants of music you enjoy, establish your favorite bands and start following their labels. 99% of the time, a new pre-order or official reissue from a label will feature rarer (and nicer) variants, packaging, etc. than whatever UO offers.

  21. I don’t know why but that FFO you slapped at the end of your topic title is sounding pretty good to me today. Will add this to my radar for sure. Looks like Horseplay is next up on today’s queue.

  23. Lol go to VMP if you wanna jerk it over splatters of bands you have never heard of, no one here cares. We like music. Guess that makes us elite. I'd rather be snobby and elite than someone who wastes money on a record solely because there are X amount of them out there or cause they swirled the lead singer's jizz into a clear record.

  34. She played Bass and backup vocals on all 3 of there albums that came out in 2014-15. I just found out about them recently and laughed when I checked out there older stuff on discogs as she is listed as Being Better At Bass Than We Thought+harmonizin Like An Angel

  35. Yep, I ordered this one too. It's intriguing being on that site and hearing a bunch of diehard Garth fans talk about not having record players but still wanting these sets like BAD. Honestly, it's pretty cool to take a look into another musical subculture that's so far removed from this one and observe what happens within it. Plus, for 130+ shipped and not being charged until October AND getting to pick a 6 digit number that will be pressed into it is a really good value. These albums are definitely classics and I'm pretty excited to finally own these on vinyl.

  37. Haven't checked this thread in forever. You guys see Greta? I hadn't seen/heard much about it. It's not really being marketed as a horror movie but it definitely is. My friend works at a local theater and asked if I wanted to check it out with him on the house after his shift, so I saw it blind today. I fuckin loved it!
