Love these guys, they are from Richmond and now in CO. They tour constantly /used to sleep in their orange van in Walmart parking lots, and Laura has added (excellent) vocals from their original instrumental post-metal beginnings. I have one of their original home-made CD-r with the spray paint baggies for jackets. They never really got any traction from my friends over on the postrock/postmetal community for some reason. Very approachable Christians, Laura is very open about fighting (and winning) re: eating disorders. Excited to see them getting some well-deserved recognition.

So everyone who bought the first press will buy another copy. Then he will press it on another color, and we will all rush to buy another one. They will continue to go for big money on the aftermarket. And people will continue to complain they didn't get one.

i think it seems like a good idea for those that want to press content to a physical platform but maybe don't want to foot the bill for a number of records they might never sell. the principle is good, but if the price point isn't right for creators, it won't work

It seems to basically just be a brokerage service, of which there are many of those these days. And if their 'manufacturing partner' is who I think it is than that makes bandcamp just a broker for another broker. Too many middlemen.

According to their FAQ: WHY DON'T YOU OFFER MEDIA MAIL? We are aware some companies choose to offer 'Media Mail' as a shipping option for things such as vinyl records and CD's. We have chosen not to simply because more often than not this service leads to packages taking 10+ business days to be delivered. When paired with the fact this is time spent in the elements, these items often become warped and/or damaged in transit with no insurance option available to the customer. This service as defined by USPS is a low-tier, bottom priority service. We believe this is why in the past we've seen packages delivered in heavily damaged conditions, which have included bent jacket corners, cracked jewel cases, pressure cracks on vinyl records as well as media completely broken in half. Ultimately these aren't desirable results for us as collectors, therefore we don't feel comfortable offering this to other collectors. TL;DR "We're too cheap to send out replacements"
