  1. Truth is, they don't have any bad albums.

  15. Way too overproduced and transparently a contrived effort to be CIRCA!.... but with more commercial appeal. There are about 3 or4 truly great Circa jams on it and 2 lesser good tracks and the rest is very garbage to me. And from all those videos that came out about the production in the lead up to release, it seemed like David Bottrill was grooming them to be the successor to Britney Spears more than the unique style of rock band that they actually were. I couldn't believe that was the same dude who produced and engineered Ænima and Lateralus. I thought he would bring more integrity to stand by their uniqueness when he actually pushed them to the poppier end of the spectrum. It was a severe disappointment. With VW I really like the first track but the rest of the album does not keep me engaged and I turn it off not even half way through. I heard Juturna just before its official release and they blew my ass away. OLG was a super strong album but still a slightly lesser follow up. Then BSN killed my dreams and honestly as I stated The Amulet is the closest they have yet come to the first two albums' glory.

  20. If this means that it's a little more rock-based I'm in. I prefer them as a balance of both genre's as opposed to all in electro-pop.

  21. I liked it, but I don't think it packed quite the punch that Hereditary did. Good follow up for sure and I'm excited to see what he's going to do next.

  26. I made the mistake of leaving this thread and checking out more of the board. There are people contemplating ordering a $400-$600 Jonas Brothers set. It's a scary, scary world outside of this thread.

  27. what is with soundtracks being released on vinyl these days? does anyone even care about a soundtrack? I think like 99% of people just download the song they like by their fav band.

  29. I'm seeing them at Pitchfork fest next Saturday. But the night before they are doing an after party show too. Which is awesome because it will be a full set as opposed to the 50 min festival set.

  33. Probably cheaper to ship from the UK rather than distributing from the UK to the US to then ship from the US. The last set was delayed by a week or two because of that.

  37. I'm sure this won't be a surprise to anyone: BOX SET UPDATE Hi Everyone, We were unable to meet our hopes of shipping The Acts by the end of June, and apologize that this message is coming a bit later than it should have. Aside from the typical logistics of putting together a set this large, there are the additional creative hurdles with putting together something that is meant to have cohesion and represent a body of work. It is important to me that this box represents that vision, and in trying to maintain it, we've taken a bit more time than we had initially expected to. As someone who is frequently on the other end of long-delayed preorders, I completely understand how anxious everyone is to receive this, and how frustrating the wait can be. So, in the hopes of offering a sort of sonic salve to soothe your preorder blues, we're sending out "Is The Soul Just a Metaphor?" from The Fox & The Hunt to everyone who has preordered The Acts box set. At the moment, we are looking at September 15th as our projected ship date, but working our best to move that date up and up. Should anything change, we will be sure to let you know. Thank you all so much. This came to me as an email. They also posted some artwork as well as a download for that new song in the email so check yours if you want to see those things.

  38. Agreed. That Juturna mock-up embodies what I picture if someone asked me to envision “nausea”. Just in general.

  39. I'd say their last album probably ranks third for me behind Juturna and OLG. BSN through Descensus are all pretty rough though Descensus might be the best among them. I'd say they are on a steady upward climb from the dismal end products that are BSN and VW. I wanted those to be good. They just didn't cut it. But holy fuck that new Juturna variant is ug-fuckin'-ly.
